My GT Academy Nissan GT-R was so-so around Spa-Francorchamps. Ditto for my 2006(?) Viper. So I toned down my already toned-down Ford GT... and came away with a best time of 2:40.069. I was saddened a bit that I couldn't get a lap below 2:40.000, but I'm still proud that I did much better with this car than I did with the other two I used. As for the wet course... don't even get me started on the wet course around Spa-Francorchamps! You talk about brutal... THIS here is brutal!

While Spa-Francorchamps is a challenging course, I enjoy it more than I do any Nürburgring track. I am still going to need a heavy deal of practice before even laying down a trophy-winning lap around the wet Spa-Francorchamps.

As for the Drift Trials, I haven't started on any of those.

Done the Wet TT in my R35 TC after 10 Laps or so 2:29.4 thats pos 370 or so. but the dry track is kinda harder with the tire limit used a Mclaren (tuned down) managed to doo a 2:33 well maybe i gona try the J2 on the wet track. Btw you guys running on full wets or on inters ?

I made a quick run for Gold on these last night when they were posted.

The 493hp race I used a Lotus Evora and then improved my time with a R390. I need to tweak my R390 to get better times, but I only worry about competing with my friend's list, not the world list. ;)

I did the Wet Race in the Chap 2J, but it took a bit getting used to those rain tires and accelerating slowly out of turns. I need to tweak my 2J more, but again, only to compete with my friend's list.

I can't remember exact hps or weights of my cars used, because I'm not in front of my PS3 at the moment, but there is nothing exotic in the tunes and they are pretty much stockish suspension settings with most/all Tuning upgrades.

Well, I used the Buick Special for both the drift events, for which i got a score of 16600 points in Eiger Norwand W Trail(79º at the moment).

Is it possible to see how you do among your friends somehow?

yeah, just go down to the box marked friends on the leaderboard and itll show your friends times as well as yours, :)
had a few laps in the 390 and up to 48th atm,2.26.2.
im still way off the top boys times of 2.22.
some set-up tips would be much appreciated, ;)
had 2 laps,1 then cancel-then another,with the 2j hot-tub car;what a beast in the wet!

Just had 10 laps of wet spa :embarrassed: in the 2J
Mostly playing with extreme toe angles to give me an idea of how im gonna try set it up.
Im not sure if thats rain or oil spilling onto the track.

I wonder does the ground rain % just go from 80 to 100 and stay there, or does it dry up a bit?

Nice Lap Saidur
P8 when I saw.

Did dry TT in Infiniti g37 coupe, 50hp under and nearly 400kg over the limits, went 5 seconds under gold on first try. Wet in a mclaren f1, 4 seconds under gold time after a few laps. Definitely an interesting experience keeping that in a straight line with no traction control or ASM, was still spinning the rears in 4th on partial throttle.

I don't have the 2J for the wet...

In 495BHP I can do 2'21 with no active steering (why not 2'20 with ^^)

Thanks, I'm P4 now. There is a lot of time left in the car, I messed up some of the corners by not being patient enough. Over 1.5 seconds off the pace, and P4, very strange leaderboard so far I must say. I'm not very good in the wet so it is a surprise to get in the top 10. Anyway I think if I get a better 1st gear ratio and nail a lap I can get closer to Takeuchi01's current time although he probably has more left in the tank. I might leave this TT, until the next GT5 update as it could change things regarding the 2J fan settings.

Anyway very fun to drive the track, Eau rouge, is probably the most difficult corner with the 2J. Interesting to see other cars being able to compete at the moment, they are making time on the high speed corners it seems.

By the way 1st lap is the fastest as far as I know so make sure to restart.

I expect they will close this TT and open another when the update arrives.

Expiry is: 26/01/2012 03:00

It will be interesting to see if the fan downforce option adds the ability to add more downforce or if it is just added to reduce downforce. If the latter is true, then it should remain equal throughout the whole TT.

Currently #13 in the Wet time trial, but I still have a ways to go to a perfect run. I'm using Praiano's 2J tune. Love rain, much quicker in the wet.
2:22.774

Just want to comment quickly on comparing times against friends... I usually do that when there are Time Trials and Drift Trials. I KNOW I am not going to be in the top percent range on the world rankings. A win against PSN friends is just as good as cracking the top times. You usually go to the online records and highlight the option for Friend Rankings to see how your friends are doing compared to your own times. Who doesn't love a little rivalry among friends? ;)

Don't worry- I'll figure out the Spa-Francorchamps wet Time Trial...

For the first, I used the Jag XJ220, but it was all over the place, so I switched to a Lotus Evora. I used the 2J in the second (without even looking at the leaderboard to see what people are using)

Slapped my own tune on the 2J, managed to crawl down to #11...So close to cracking Top 10..Just 0.046 away from tenth place. I had minor hesitation at the last corner which might have caused me a couple of hundreds though, Darn!

As anyone can suggest some setup suspension on R390 for SPA 500 cv TT? I've some problem of understeer. I've done few attempts yesterday night and my time is 2.28.4. So far!!!Mine's setup:
+05/-08
14.8/12.3
5/3
5/3
5/6
0.25-0.10
-0.06/0.20
brake 7/8

493HP Spa-Francorchamps Time Trial

This is a Time Trial on the Spa-Francorchamps course, using non-racecars with 493HP or less. Cars can be tuned to 493HP and 1000kg, and tires are limited to Sports/Hard or less.
If anyone wants a good challenge for this, go with the BMW M3. 👍

I ran it stock with maximum d/f and top speed adjustments of the gearing, did a 2.27.7XX with that (#207 at the moment). Haven't burned my hands on tuning this monster yet. I guess adjusting the ride height with a high front end will reduce mid-corner understeer, á la the Schulze GTR. I used extreme ride height adjustments on the latter, so drop the rear end really low and jack up the front end very high, which cured the problem. I noticed in R_a_c_l's Spa replay that he did something of that kind.

Yes, I've noted that: higher front than rear as mine but I suppose best is more high in the front than mine

I tried the R390 for the first one last night....have to say that I liked the Tommykaira ZZII for it more though :odd:

I managed my first qualifying time around Spa-Francorchamps Wet. My time was good for 21290th place. My time was a 2:44.664 in my Team Peugeot Total 908 HDi FAP. A PSN friend in another 908 HDi FAP clocked a time ten seconds faster than mine. Okay... honestly, I feel like crap. I'm the only one among my circle of PSN friends in the 2:40 range while everyone else is in the 2:30 range. This is Gold for me since I am not good at wet tracks in almost any game.

Top time at present for the wet race is 2:18.744. However, if you check some of the cars in the Top 10, one had an Audi R8 LMP while another used the Toyota 88C-V. Most everybody else used the classic 2J Race Car from Texas' own Chaparral.

Been using a setup on my R390..Seems to make it better, but that might just be me. I've done 6 or so laps on it, so it's a work in progress BUT it might help someone so I'll just post it here..If you like it, post a comment, if not, Terribly sorry it's not finished.

Ride: -18/20
Spring: 18.5/19.0
Damp Ext: 9/10
Damp Comp: 8/9
Roll: 2/3 (Tighten these if the car is too loose)

Camber: 2.4/1.6
Toe: 0/0 (Didn't play with this)

LSD:10/22/10 (Threw in some numbers here, again not much experimentation)

Just hit a 2:22.225 and am currently 30th. Theres bundles of time in that lap as I completely messed up the last section. Using a stock 2J, have no idea on how to set it up haha.

If all you want is gold than the easiest car that will do that is the Gt-r R35 TC, with its four-wheel drive it grips much better than the real wheel drive LMP's. However saying that i did use tc on 8 only because i wanted to get the tt over with and im also not a great driver using a DS3. So if all you want is to beat the time for gold than this car is your best bet even if your bad in the rain.
