I think the fact that he pushed Hamilton so far... Hamilton who is arguably the best qualifier on the grid (next to Alonso... errh... call it fifty-fifty), in the most powerful car, in the best sorted car, and in the rain, where he's fantastic... and Ricciardo pushes him to the limit.

I'd call that a win for Daniel and Red Bull.

Granted, I had a feeling cooler conditions would suit the car well... Goodness knows how well these cars will hold out on hotter tracks, but that's a worrying sign that Vettel has a chance for a fifth championship this year.

I feel the cooler conditions and slower speeds along with the downforce that car has for these situation all played a part. If this was dry conditions on softs I think DR would have been 3rd-5th on the grid to be honest.

Agreed. If not for the lack of raw pace, it would be because RBR would have to throttle back to keep the engine happy. If it rains tomorrow, good for Red Bull, but that means we won't see the true status of the pack until the next race.

Yeah, but I'm hoping Rosberg is right and it goes back to dry.

At least Finger (That will Vettel's new name.) isn't an ugly mofo like Sebulba.

The way he was glorifying Ricciardo and criticising Vettel makes it as though he is depicting Daniel as out to 'avenge' him (for all of the favouritism BS that is)
I knew it was some sort of vengeance act. Now Ricciardo's showing Fingers up in his first ever quali with them, the true favouritism game is showing through. Love it :D

I just like how Webber is talking about everything from the driver's point of view. And no doubt the big grin Webber has in knowing Vettel is playing catch up at this point in time.

For about 2 or 3 years at least. :sly:

Yeah just enough to solidify LH in the history books and perhaps give Nico a WDC to be on par with his dad and be the second father son pairing to do so.

I think *think* it"ll just be points on his license, won't it?

Not sure, I'm so lost with the new rules (because of school and life mainly) and I haven't had time to brush up.

Oh by the way guys as we suspected Maldanado will be starting in the race tomorrow.

Red Bull are claiming Vettel had an engine software issue.

But the pictures from the on-board camera don't lie - he has been all over the place all weekend.

Don't disagree with that but it seems usually teams scram a way to prove they lifted off....
They only have to demonstrate that they backed off 200m before and 200m after the incident, or at the points where yellow and green flags were displayed. The system has been changed because the old method required them to back off through the whole sector, and the FIA realised the drivers could be unfairly penalised for speeding in a sector under yellows when an accident happened behind them.

Magnussen and Vettel will provide telemetry to show when and where they backed off and got back on the power, and that doesn't lie. The only thing that might save them is if they can demonstrate that they were within 200m of Räikkönen's accident. Räikkönen crashed at Turn 3 and went into the wall on the right hand side. Since the apex is fairly blind, they could argue that they could not see Räikkönen until they got around the corner.
