Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, all the major sanctioning bodies and owners in any form of sports car racing need a huge wake up call and a kick in the family jewels.. Enzo walking out won't solve much though, and it seems a little childish.. "oh we're not winning?, let's quit, that'll show them" of course Enzo is allowed to do this as I'm pretty sure he funds a lot of Starworks efforts. The 8 car is 2nd in the championship and Rileys have won 3 or 4 races already, and have had several pole positions.. Not to mention a 24 Hours of Daytona win by Mike Shank.. Quitting won't solve his or the teams "problem" and now poor Ryan is left out in the cold without a team mate. As much as I like the team, I find they complain just a bit to much.

I think the whole "Ganassi Conspiracy" is blown way out of proportion by people who just hate seeing Ganassi win (where are these same people in indycar?). Once gain, both crashes are not solely Montoya's fault. Fans are only blame Montoya because they already hate him just for being there all the while forgetting that ironically enough, both the drivers involved aren't exactly any less aggressive (does no one recall detroit?). Hell, it even seems everyone forgets Barber too where a certain Italian driver couldn't pass a guy without just shoving him off the road. And lets not forget the 24 where a certain Scotsman (driving ironically the same car involved) also got into a shoving match himself (and I believe AJ can back me up on that one). It seems to me a case of people who don't like having dose of their own medicine.

Correction, Genassi runs the Dinan BMW powerplant in their riley.

+ 1.

Starworks must have been watching a different race to me. Dalziel crowded Montoya on the grass, despite the latter had the inside line into turn 2. Barbosa took a wide line into turn 3, which Montoya pounced on by trying to pass. The 9 shouldn’t have driven in so wide if he didn’t want to be passed.

These incidents are never as clear-cut as “that guy just hit me”. Well, if you chop others off and drive into spaces that don’t exist, you’ll eventually get dumped.

Although Grand-Am’s officiating can be improved, I’m glad they don’t issue rash penalties in the heat of the moment. The whole blame game with penalties is one endless story, especially when a lot of incidents are marginal.

I’ll take the fierce action of Grand-Am over something vanilla like WEC any day.

Finally! Someone who watched the same race I did!Montoya didn't take Daziel out, but instead it was Daziel who tried to take JPM out he put him on the grass and then started bit_hi_g about it when JPM got into the track and the contact turned him arround. That incident was his own doing, not the "evil" Chip Ganassi not the "bad boy" JPM!
The incident with Joao was a bit different, from what I saw in the replay the gap wasn't quite there... Partly because JB closed the door after making a mistake, that particular corner had been a passing spot all race long with JB beign passed twice there and JPM had been passed once with no drama. my guess is that JB had gotten tired of beign passed in the same spot twice and just wasn't gonna let JPM pass him there yet again, he slammed the door on JPM's face and got turned arround as a result!
Now, why is nobody talking about JB's homicidal move on JPM? How is it ok for someone to plainly and deliberately try to take someone out and yet somebody else's head must be cut off and put on a stick for a racing incident on wich he was on the recieving end?

Yes, that’s very true. Few seemed to care about Barbosa rear-ending JPM under Caution. Now that was deliberate.

If Montoya drove like Angelleli did at Barber, yikes, you would hear the bitching from Albania.

These are all the Starworks drivers. I doubt Sarrazin will drive for them since he works for the factory Toyota LMP1 team now.

NARG! They still have Michael Valiante listed, and he's Canadian. Hmmm, go Valiante! He's got a good head on his shoulders, he'll be a good contender for the championship!

(sorry, I volunteer as a translator, so I was trained not to change the original text too much)

Regardless, I'm still happy for Alex, on his first win. :)

Well, it seems Enzo is man enough (and rich enough) to keep supporting Dalziel's effort for the remainder of the season, even if he is replaced by Luhr in the car.

Can't say I was expecting this.

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/grand-am-luhr-completes-starworks-lineup-for-the-glen/

But he doesnt...

He did a single race because Toyota didnt have enough drivers for 3 per car. He isn't a "Toyota" driver.
Toyota MAY hire him next year when they run 2 cars the whole season.

Well He is listed as STILL being a driver for Toyota on the team website. Sorry!:yuck:

I've got my weekend ticket for the race this week at the Glen :D Should be a show!

:dunce: I thought he was busy with ALMS. Meh, oh well, I was wrong and admit it. The speculation was fun. :guilty: Still... meh... I was actually wrong.

No ALMS round this weekend. I'm happy. Luhr is a good driver and the fact that Bourdais is driver for Starworks again this weekend is just icing on the cake. Tomorrow's round should be very interesting.

The hell? #90 car with both axls broke. Now thats just 🤬 luck.

Nice job Alex, As if the whiny baby antics of Starworks needed more validation.

"Hi to my family at home"

Thats why I love Scott Pruett. Even before his own sponsors, he always has to plug that in

To make things funnier, his family actually showed up once and had shirts that said "Scott's family at home"

One of the Starworks cars will get into the Ganassi car before this is over.. Watch. I might be going to the Daytona 24 this January, fingers crossed..

And funny enough, the other car involved in the incident at indy does the exact same idiotic thing as Rojas did: Takes out a GT car. Its just further proves how pointless the conspiracy, the supposed protest and the "Ganassi is the bad guy" story really is.

Just because you predict that to happen, and it ends up happening, doesn't make a conspiracy.

Also, nice to hear that Turner Motorsport has finally received factory support from BMW.
