Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

According to GA's website, Michael Shank Racing is running a Corvette DP (#6) and Ford Riley DP (#60). I didn't know one team could run two cars of different makes like that. Must be a pain for the engineers and for their people in the booth (Where I presume the Ford guys and Chevy guys are separated by all the corporate sponsors in the middle).

I know Michael Shank ran a dallara and a riley a couple of years ago at the same time.

Its somewhat pretty common In Grand-Am. I know one team ran both a Crawford and a Riley sometime ago. In GT, TRG did it multiple times with their Pontiacs and Porsches.

I'm pretty sure it's a mistake on the website. I've seen pictures of the 6 car and it's a riley chassis.

I was responding to his post where he said he wasn't aware teams could run two cars of two different makes.

I guess I never noticed. I've only been watching Grand Am regularly since 2010.

EDIT: Looks like they've corrected the typo in the entry list. It now states Shank is running two Ford Rileys rather than a Corvette.

Daytona 24 entries from Ganassi... Sweet! Running Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Juan Montoya and Charlie Kimball in one car, along with Scott Dixon, Dario Francitti, Jamie McMurray and Joey Hand in the other..

Got all my fingers and toes crossed for a BMW powered win.. torn between whether I'd like to see JPM in the winning car again, or my new favourite DTM driver Joey Hand!!

Either way.. lookin' forward to the 24!

Gotcha. I remember Shank ran a Ford/Dallara and a Ford/Riley in the same season.

Well 11 cars on the DP list. BTE sport has entered a ford riley. I did a little research, and Emmanuel Anassis, the team owner, is high up in DAC aviation. He is from Montreal Canada.

I'd like to see JPM parked, how many cars did he ram into last year? That idiot shouldn't be allowed on the track.

Paha oh boy JPM...
He isn't exactly 'liked' in the Grand Am field
And if I remember correctly he isn't exactly lucky at Daytona, for example he hit the track jet blower in Nascar earlier this year

Good luck to him I say, but he needs to stay out of trouble if he wants to improve his reputation in Grand Am.

Well, he did crash Starworks last year in the Brickyard Grand Prix. Not to mention he crashed into a jet dryer in the Daytona 500 last year

@sumbrownkid: Peter Baron promised to keep giving McNish a ride in the 24 until he won.

Yeah, the 24 he kinda turned some cars into a pinball for some reason. If I'm honest though, Rojas has been even worse then Montoya and he's the one actually racing for the title.

Ou Mr. Spengler, the French-Canadian German racing driver... Like me.

Obviously I like Spengler, but I was desperatley hoping Hand would do better than he did the DTM, maybe not his fault, but I hope he's on a long enough contract to give him chance to succeed.

I didn't see the Indy race earlier this year so I can't really comment, JPM's always been an 'aggressive' type of driver though, but he's proven twice ('07 & '08 (and oh so nearly in the astonishing finish to the '09 race)) that he's got the required skills to race, and win, in Grand-Am - so I don't think he has much too much to prove. Maybe just needs to keep his momentum in check a little more.

Also, joking aside, suspension failure put Monty into the Jet Dryer... jus' sayin'.

I know it was a broken suspension  I couldn't believe that when it happened. I knew something had to have broken.

No doubts JPM is a good driver. I'm surprised an F1 driver would be that aggressive. One of the best racing battles I remember at the Rolex 24 was between JPM in the #02 CGR entry and David Donohue in the #58 Brumos Porsche.

Is McNish dumped by Audi? Or they did tell him to start looking for racing somewhere else because his time is coming up?

He does this. He isn't dumped, starworks need an extra driver, and he's the best avaliable.
