Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Looks like he will be:

That's excellent. Great news. I've seen bob varsha in the infield during the Rolex 24, but I'm ecstatic that he will be commentating.

On another note: McMahon Raceworks' number 83 Lotus Evora is on the entry list. The AF-Waltrip Ferrari is on the list as well. I think there are 2 Turner BMW's for the 24 on the list now as well.

Both are M3s?

Heard some speculation about them potentially moving to Z4s, that can be put to rest now.

Maybe next year 👍

An announcement from Rum Bum Racing will be today. I'm hoping they will announce a GT or DP car at least for the Rolex 24.

Ninja Update: 1 Rum Bum Audi R8 in the Rolex 24. :D

Can't imagine too many teams/manufacturers wanting to switch platforms this year when the classes and regulations for next year are still so up in the air.

I know, just seemed like it was a big talk among the discussion of whether there would be more GT3 based cars in Grand-Am. I imagine 2014 would be far more likely though given that now we will have a Z4 in ALMS and Given that GTE is going to remain the same.

Another update: BGB has put their Cayman on the Rolex 24 entry list. Total entries are up to 45.

:nervous: update: Jim Lowe has put some more news on twitter. Basically he's saying that his car is being put together, but he's not sure about sponsorship. He expects an answer this week.

I still can't find it there. Did they take it down?

It's on their wall. The official announcement will be later today from rum bum.

Update: 4 Audi R8's as of now in the Rolex 24. 2 APR Audi's. One will be driven by Marc Bassing, Rene Rast, and Frank Stippler. 1 Rum Bum racing Audi R8. The official announcement will be made at some point. 1 Alex Job racing Audi R8. That means that AJR will have entered a Porsche 911 and an Audi R8 in the GT class for this years Rolex 24.

Team Sahlen released an image displaying their liveries. Not to keen on all the text, but otherwise it looks pretty sharp.

That's some sweet livery. I'm wanting to see APR's new livery.

Awesome, an R8 in the Rum Bum livery should look great!

Agreed, text is meh rest is nice.

The R8 (Best looking car in GT) + Rum Bum livery (Best looking livery in GA) = Best...everything :D

Hopefully the Audi will be stronger at the 24 this year. At least 1 APR Audi will run the full schedule. The Rum Bum will as well. I'm not sure if the Alex Job Racing Audi R8 will be running any more events. I bet the 2nd APR Audi will run the NAEC at least.

@RACECAR
 Just noticed your Corvette Detective user title for the first time. 👍

Yeah, its been fun trying to piece together that car and since it looks like I'm the only one doing so, I figured I might as well appoint myself that title.

Best text ever  Otherwise, awesome livery 👍

What text?

As a part of the deal, everytime they pass a car for position the driver must say "Yippe Kay Yay Mother:censored:" and if they retire they must say, "It was a good day to die hard".

Okay, neither of those are true, but it would make that one of the most interesting radio channels ever.

I will probably say that from the stands now :P

Grand Am.com undated their Daytona 24H entry list to include the Rum Bum Audi. Only thing is, it's not an Audi, rather it's an Acura TL. Very odd. What's even stranger is that for the "Roar Before the 24", they classify it as an Audi R8. Same car number, same drivers.

Maybe the Bums had a little too much Rum at Rum Bum.

Dion Von Moltke will be driving the AJR Audi R8 at Daytona. The other drivers for the 24 are Filipe Albuquerque, Oliver Javis, and Edoardo Mortara.

DP update: Both Starworks cars on on the entry list. Odd that Dalziel, Popow, McNish, and Bourdais are in the 2 car rather than the 8 car.

Love it.^^

The Viper is coming back for the 24. Jan Heylen, Doug Peterson, and Tony Ave will be driving it.

The DP field might be 16, or it could get as high as 19 or 20 from the looks of it. Ivan Bellarosa still isn't on the DP entry list anywhere. I know he tested for Action Express Racing at VIR with Max Papis. (Hopefully) He could end up in a 3rd AXR car. This is assuming he doesn't end up with Starworks or Michael Shank. Those 2 teams still haven't fully announced driver plans yet. Still no word on if Jim Lowe/Doran will be at the Rolex 24 this year. That would be another car on the grid. Krohn racing might put the Lola back into the race for another go. That's 19 cars if all those end up on the entry list. I doubt any more than 17 cars though. My guess is that Bellarosa ends up with Shank or in the 2nd Starworks entry. Krohn hasn't announced anything in terms of its 2013 plans, and Jim Lowe/Doran racing has a car which is being prepared right now while sponsorship isn't secured.
