Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Max Angelleli got Max Angelleli'd  That was a pretty good race, I'm just sad to see Brumos go, they're my favourite team.. :( Daren Law on the broadcast team is a bit sad too, I still think he's got it in him.. No more Brian Till?

He was at Long beach for the ESPN coverage of the ALMS Race at Long Beach.

Someone explain to me why the BMW #01 car is so much faster than all the other prototypes.

I was at the 24hours of Daytona and both BMW prototypes were so fast, like in another league fast. The Corvette DP's and Ford have no chance against it.

They weren't all that fast at COTA or at Barber. Just seems like at some tracks the team can get the car on the track just quick.

It's the grand am bop. Bmw got extra rpm allowed.

Still in denial I see.

Anyways, here is probably the best photo I got yesterday. Maybe more to come.

:odd: In denial of what?

Basically it's a Ganassi DP class with others to fill the standings.

Eh, I'm not a fan of them or anything like that but not sure why they are really so much faster. The 42/43 aren't nearly as quick with BMW power but I pull for anyone outside the 01-02 (I don't dislike the drivers so much, the team itself is where my issue lies).

I like Scott Pruett, but I am not a fan of Rojas. I'm more of a red dragon/Starworks guy. Plus Montoya drives for Ganassi in the Rolex 24. That's enough to not like them.

JPM doesn't bother me over all but I prefer 6/60/90 usually (42/43 I like but still learning for them).

Am I the only one hoping NBC gets rights for the USCR series?

I just don't see it happening. With NBC saying they are going to show every EPL game on one of their networks and trying to acquire NASCAR on top of what they already show. I think a split package with Fox or ESPN is realistically possible though.

As long as it's not speed2.com...

Speed2.com treats Canadians like crap. :(

And not to mention that the largest cable operator in the US doesn't carry it.

The BMW's got a boost and they still took 300 from the Fords?

Better drivers and hes got a bigger budget than everyone else. Also I think Sahlen using an upgraded gen 2 Riley.

Sahlens 42 is the Starworks 8 chassis from last year. The 43 is a gen 1 chassis upgraded to gen 3 if I'm not mistaken. Ganassi has a much larger budget than any other team as DP isn't cost capped, but they still produce very close racing.

The Fords did get 300 rpm taken away for some stupid reason.

More importantly, whose driving?

I would expect next season Ricky Taylor. With Michael Valiante driving the second 8Star DP, I expect someone along the lines of David Donohue or Darren Law.

Surprised to see that the 01 actually has a different paint scheme outside of Daytona

Awesome to see another big partner joining grand am. Michael shank also has a bright green #60 car for Detroit and mid Ohio :)

Jordan Taylor takes 1st in DP. Cant believe that crash on the first lap, the #1 bmw DP got pushed into the wall hard. Good win for the Stevenson Camaro, making a tight points race in both DP and GT.

Yacaman was way out of line with all the contact he made. I know he says when he makes a pass he commits but with the series taking a far more aggressive stance on contact, they aren't going to take that kind of driving well.

And I thought I had way too much time on my hands

It was a pretty decent close race. I can't imagine the other teams being upset about the 01 being taken out. And that's just what it was...taken out. I also can't believe the 6 didn't get another penalty for taking out the 90 car. But eventually the 6 got spun as well... GT battle was quite good, close all around. Shame about the DP car holding them up at the end though, but it didn't hurt too, too much.

Great race. I'm not happy with yacamans moves on Rojas and Westbrook. Stevenson is the hottest team in sports car racing as of now. Too bad for the 3 car. Lamy never makes mistakes like that, but he's not perfect. Too bad the green 60 got caught up in the 01 incident. At least it is a championship now in DP.

What bugs me is how long they took to get to Lamy, I understand it's a street course but when someone plows into a concrete wall hard enough to move it and doesn't open the door, I'd get the hell over there..

That's another reason I don't like street circuits. Not to mention most passes include crashing the other car. See yacaman's whole stint for examples. They need to never go back there.

Its possible to make passes without crashing. Yacaman's over-aggressive driving shouldn't be a example why they shouldn't return (since he's the one who did it the most), its more the example of how not to pass someone on a street course.
