For Race A the Zagato VGT is fun and fairly competitive. With a race of practice my best lap in the race was 1:46.7. It can probably do 44s. Tomorrow I will tune some of the more obscure cars but really there are not too many that can enter that I haven't seen raced yet. This event makes me wish GT7 had drivetrain swaps, an FR engine swapped Delorean would be insane.

The engine-swapped BMW M3 '03 is not too bad, too. 1:45:xx in qualifying, maybe a second or so still to be had. Had two fairly competitive, back-and-forth type races against the Corvettes, which are faster on the straights, but I was able to fly past some of them in Curva Grande (?) and on the corner exits.

Personal preference, but for these races I like to tune a car up rather than nerf one down to the power limit. The F12 feels wasted and a completely different animal if you have to take away 300 odd HP.
My secret is to boost it even further before nerfing it. I throw in a Bore Up for the added torque because at default HP you cannot hit 443 using the Power Restrictor and CPU so you have to boost it.
I ran the ZL1-1LE with 200 kg overweight. Still did a last to podium
Dude, you can take the extra Weight Reduction Mod and then you use Ballast to bring the car back up to 2866 lbs. No need to go overweight.

Damn, if he just stayed behind you, he would have gotten you on the straight. I'm hoping he just got flustered by going off the track but it looks like he put his foot back on the gas to intentionally use your car as a cushion.
That's what I thought too.

With regards to bad sportsmanship, the majority of races I get into are pretty good.

Yes you get the occasional player who has no respect for leaving racing room, and a few who will outright try and barge you off the tarmac, but I find that most of the races at A / A+ driver rating are fine.

I ran race B perhaps 10 times yesterday (I have yet to get a win in the GTR, but I'm creeping up there and DAMN it's hard when the guys at the front are A+ and sporting qually lap times that are in the global top 100). I got into lobbies where the top 6 or 7 were mainly the same group of people each time, and nearly all the races were excellent, close and sweaty, but also with decent race craft. This is on Euro servers, I'm in the UK.

You get some bad races for sure, and yes you sometimes are unceremoniously shat upon by talentless idiots who don't realise how easy and pointless it is to push other drivers around - we could all do that if we didn't want good races - but if you keep your chin up and just move onto the next, my main experience is that there is often really good racing available.

Oh sweet baby Jesus. I'm late to the party but I think I'll finally have fun this week with tuning setups allowed in race A!
PD needs to have this formula all the time!

EDIT:

VGT allowed again?? Then I think I spoke too soon...
The VGTs don’t seem to have any advantage this week. I think the HP ceiling and weight floor keep it fair.

Actually, had FUN in Race A last night, love these tuner races. Really wish it was a weekly standard, I would certainly make time for it.
Will tune something different tonight.

Ran some daily B yesterday in my META 155. But saw plenty of GTR and WRX in there. Even some guys doing great in the Lambo and 458. Starting near the front is huge. And even up there the damage model is coming into play as a lot of guys bouncing it off walls in the tight sections. Been good and clean in the front half but seen some total carnage happening in the back on the mini-map. All it takes is the first person in the train to wreck on that 90degree right after the first tunnel and it's a massive pile up.

Zagato is okay, but not as fast (over one lap) as the Corvettes and Vipers. At least when I tried it, I had to slow down for turn 1 to not understeer off of the track.

Then there's the Infiniti VGT, which is sketchy to drive. :scared:

I'll be going for Trial Mountain this week as the tire wear at Daytona is a big nope from me. I'm in the Alfa like most everyone else and set a qualifying time of 2:00.3XX so far.

All 3 races I did tonight were a disaster. I made way too many mistakes to overcome by pushing too hard too soon. Starting mid pack each race isn't helping. The racing was fine, but I was constantly behind others who were racing side by side and there was no real way to get past them safely. Adding to that, barely touching the walls of the circuit and that damage model is a killer. The few times I did find myself with a nice pace, I would just look at the wall and get damage it seems. Major pain if you ask me. I know, keep it off the walls and I'll be fine. I had 2 last place finishes and a P9 in the end. Hopefully, I can have some better results tomorrow.

At least my home team Buffalo Bills put on a clinic on Monday Night Football last night, so I got that to cheer me up.

Even with all the weight reduction it's still overweight. Not more than 35 kg thoug.
Anyway, I tried the META Corvette yesterday. Big bundle up on the start so I went from p4 to last before we where away.
Still finished P3. The car is strong

Oh yeah, that's a bummer.

So, I noticed the E type was exactly the cutoff weight for Race A so I figured WTH why not. No wide body but funnily enough it will let you add wide/wide tires to it. Cant add air dams, or side skirts but you can make the car look sexy as hell by taking those chrome bumpers off!

After mods and all I can get the E Type up to 177 on the straight but it's got no downforce so not a chance in hell of winning. Was fun to take it out for one race. Everyone passed me respectfully and I had a blast. Had to buy a second one to mod cuz I didnt want to gunk up my original E type.

I was off the game for a few days and now I'm slowly getting back into it. Initially very pleased with Trial Mountain, the disillusionment came very quickly. The new damage to the car is very disturbing/devastating and, in my opinion, greatly exaggerated. Then there was the very uncomfortable positioning of the penalty zone... Really very annoying.
With the GT-R I'm currently on 1.58.7xx, which keeps me messing up a few small details, so I'm currently denied 1.57 (which would be my current optimum). Out of sheer interest, I grabbed the Viper again and did a few laps. My goodness... driving this car is different than the GT-R but really exciting AND fast. On my video you can see how, despite a few mistakes and obvious room for improvement, I have already managed a good 1.59.xxx.
Most impressive is the sheer speed that can be achieved with the Viper. I want to encourage everyone to give the Viper a try... it's fun and a far cry from any of the metas. (I even suspect that the Viper can outperform an Alfa even with a slipstream on the straight. And if you're behind an Alfa.. well you just drive over it.... it's that fast)

Here's my best lap and tune for Race A in the '09 Corvette. 1:40.605 was fastest in the world for about 30 minutes.

Widebody and all aero parts, stock wheels, active steering strong. It is right on the line of going full throttle and not spinning out on turn 1.

Thanks for the great tune. Currently 6th overall and I still think there's room for improvement.

Anyone looking for something different and clean?

Yeah, I think that’s a good shout. I’ve been having great success just through driving consistently at 95% and relying on capitalizing on small mistakes from opponents. There are so many places where getting it a little bit wrong can cost you half a second or more.

I’m typically pretty good out of turn 1 and 5. It’s amazing how often this leads to opponents getting it wrong into turns 2 and the chicane.

Unfortunately I can’t seem to work the chicane out so my overall pace is letting me down a bit.
Slow reply, but yeah a good line through the international horseshoe is mega for gaining lap time. Me, I struggle getting the power down coming out of the left back on to the oval.

I found with the bus stop to get in down to about 3rd and get plenty of inside curb on the left and right. In between, get the car slowed up enough to stay in the middle of the track and you’ll get the inside of the exiting right nice and be on the throttle super early.

I think the track limits only applies to cutting the left curbing going back into the oval.

I should make a video for others that might need it, it’s hard to explain

I can’t remember what sort of time I have, but for Daily Race A, I got into the top 3,000 for my region using the E92 M3. I also minimized the downforce on both ends, but other than that, I don’t think I’ve done much with the settings beyond complying with the power/weight regulations. (Maybe I could increase the rear downforce just a bit.) I was too busy to try anything Monday, but I did a bit qualifying yesterday, so I might try some racing today.

Oh, and it definitely seems to help me to have TCS on at 1. I don’t feel like it holds me back as much as it prevents me from going into oversteer as I exit corners.

I guess I brought the wrong car to track! DB5 was pretty decent but just had no top end speed.
Daily A I thought it would be a mix of cars but I forgot that most people are sheep and pick the meta tuned car. I wish PD had a better way to sort these tune races.

I may roll my Shelby Cobra out for this. I’ve been running my AMG Black with all the tricked out roulette parts, but I’m getting bored with it already. I’m actually terrible at this race and can’t drive that track in traffic, so I may as well go bold.

Oddly enough, I’m always the fastest person off the line at the start and get myself in big trouble by being in front at the first chicane. If this were a straight line drag race is win every time! Alas, the steering thing gets me every time. . .

Same here (though my qualifying time is at 2:01:2xx, so a second slower than you). Been put in very fast races so far (not that I think my qualifying time's fast in any way but I've had races where everyone was at 1:59:xxx or faster) and almost always found some way to mess things up at some point, usually by trying not to ram into someone else. Worst start to a racing week since GT Sport for me, and I'm considering sitting it out until the next races come around on Monday. Trial Mountain just doesn't seem to vibe well with me this week.

I've been in the opposite situation when using my F&F Supra - so slow off the line I get absolutely swamped before we even reach he first turn, and someone inevitably pits me. Need to look at the gearing. Daytona is much safer, always starts at the back so I can pick through the initial mess.

It's been a funny day, first time this week i logged in as was still dead after our weekend wedding. Jumped into Race C trying to set a time but couldn't figure out why I was over 4 seconds slower than the top, until...

I realized I had hard tires on 🤣I put on the mediums and managed a respectable 1:44:8 after a few laps.

Didn't feel like a super long race so I set a time on Race B (1:59:7) staring in 10th and raced an actual pig! He pushes and swerves to make sure you die trying to overtake . Was an interesting last 3 laps but I enjoyed watching him stuck in a wall at the end of the final lap 🤣

I then improved my time by 0.4 sec and set a 1:59:3 only to start 13th the next race 🤣

Interesting driving from the GTR.
Id say lap 2 the weaving and blocking was borderline acceptable. Then when the green Heineken car was the inside at the final corner the GTR tried to make the apex with a car in the way? Not sure what the GTR was trying to do there.
Lap 4 that weaving was not acceptable. Moved way to late and moved twice.
Always nice seeing bad drivers end up in the wall

It's hard to fault people for racing a car that's a second faster than almost all others. Would you call a F1 driver that ran a race in an F2 not a sheep?

Edit; I ran one race this morning before leaving for work. In the Vette. Worked my way up to p3, the German in another Vette in P2 ran off in Curva Grande, then rejoined and stayed out to the left.
I come barreling up the right at maybe 100km more than him (at 265km/h at the exit of the curve) and just as I get close he moves over and shut the door. No where to go but collision
I think he didn't see me, I want to believe that instead of it being on purpose.
Anyway, I made it to P2.

Don't think I will be doing Race B anymore as I just did Race C for the first time and I'm so happy. Used my 2nd account which had a half second slower qualy time than main account so I started 12th but...

Clean race, was in the zone and finished on the podium! 😎 Was in a tier 1 lobby and would have started 5th with the main account so will try again soon 🙂

I totally get what your saying and yes my quote was wrong to say. I dont know I just expected to see more variety in these tuned races. I get everyone wants to win and myself included I want to win too, but I don’t know I just expected this to be a bit of a fun race with the no dr turned off.

It still counts on the stats though, and for race wins and top 5's. these are more important to people than they should be but we all like to see our numbers go up.

Not sure there's a solution here, other than randomly assigning cars, but then people will just quit out if they don't get a competitive one.

Man I don't know what's going on but I'm having a hard time trying to get the car to turn on this game as of late. Noticed the same thing when I ran race C at Redbull ring last week. And what's weird is that competitive. I ran a 1:44.85 at Daytona the other day and that's in the ball park. The fastest time worldwide is 1:43.02. I feel like I could go faster if I can get the damn car to turn. I don't even feel like im overdriving the car either. Btw I'm using the Toyota supra like everyone else.
