Indy (oval) seems to be our version of GT5 NASCAR at Daytona- you never know who's going to win until the last lap and there's usually a crash on the last lap too.

Well just finished doing some tuning. Going to send out the set to neljack. Has any tested mediums yet? Or have all of your guys fast time been on mediums? I have tested them yet till tonight. So once I get some sort of answer, I will post my findings.

Hards and mediums will get you very similar laptimes (assuming both are warmed up). When I used the 43/57 weight balance before we changed back to the balance of our choice, I was somewhere between 1 and 2 tenths off of my medium times (if I remember right).

Well Damn. I feel bad because I'm almost a second faster on mediums than hards.

I'll do some more testing before the race to be sure, but both tyres always seem close to me. In testing I usually start on the hard tyre to do a decent amount of laps and learn the limits, before switching to mediums. I usually find 1 second on the mediums over the hards as I improve, but I can then transfer most of this pace back to the hards.

I feel I can push the mediums alot harder before i experience any understeer or oversteer. With the fact I feel faster with a slight amount of understeer.

Will we score points for Indy 500 qualifying like in the real event, Tom?

Pole- 15
2nd- 13
3rd- 12
4th- 11
5th- 10
6th- 9
7th- 8
8th- 7
9th- 6
10th or worse- 4

There is no points structure for qualifying in the Indy 500. Just points for pole.

I don't think I'm going to race this round. I've had zero practice, don't even have a setup, and I get paid for the first time from my new job and I need to go grocery shopping.

Sorry Tom, was planning on running but I got some other things to take care of 👍

No worries, hope you can make next week.

Probably not Joe, the GT5 leader board makes it too tricky to do the whole field.

Have a look at the points awarded on pole day, as well the points in the results table for the race: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Indianapolis_500

Tom. Can I suggest scrapping pit speed entry tonight. If you slow to 60mph before it takes over, it increase your speed again, making going in at 60 pointless.

In with Joe and he agrees. Your call.

Sure thing, the AI takes control early IIRC? I'll scrap them for this evening.

Double post but this is important.

I'm away on Friday in a fortnight's time as i'm going to see my cousin play a gig in Leicster. So there'll be no race on that Friday (18th May). The entire calendar will just be shifted back a week so round 4 will be the 25th May 👍

Or, you could let joe host, and implement the drop a race rule..

See it works for everyone :sly:

TomMcD
I'll consider it. I'm focusing on tonight at the moment.

It's only fair, life takes over sometimes :sly:

TomMcD
But I don't want to miss SSR5!

Well at least allow us to drop a race, your moving the calendar back a week for yourself like ;) :sly:

Drop does it for the Cup, therefore I shall for this :P

I'll think about it, I do understand that it's a long schedule and even though I dislike the idea, I can see that it is a logical solution to the issue.

Okay, am I think I'll drop my first race.. ;)

I agree really, which is why I'm pushing back a week.

I find that unfair, just because you're the host, you get the "Get out of jail free" card. Whereas people who missed races, (me included) will always be 1 race behind everyone who made them all, and you of course, because you'll postpone a race, just because you can't make it.

Yeah but in a way its unfair towards everyone else. It then becomes some what biased. By being able to drop a race will lead to being a fairer season.. Just limit which race can be dropped. For example first and last and Cant drop the 500. Or something along those lines.
