That said, I wouldn't be surprised if someone (or more than one person!) sneaked a 1:42.

I would say 1:38's are good, anything better is very good

If you're Vettel or Tony, then yes, 36's are a good time. Mortals should be aiming for high 37's.

Yeah the 35s ect ect times are on Mediums while qualifying is done on hards .

Ill be lucky to get a high 43 round here so far my best is a 44.6 .

Got some practice done, managed a PB of 1.43.122. Not bad, I think I can squeeze into the 42's. John did a scary 1.42.4xx

I had one of those rare golden moments practicing with Nep, hitting several 1'42.4 and 1'42.5. Then 15 min later, I struggled to get into the 1'42.

Maybe a 1'42 is possible in qual, but I will be happy to get something around 1'43.0.
I don't think I'm very good doing qual actually as when pressure is on, I rather go for consistency.

I'd recommend starting under the Total sign.

A mid 42 even in practice is fantastic. I could theoretically manage a 42.6 in the Garaiya if I hit my best sector times through a whole lap, but easier said than done - best of luck with your lap when you go for it.

But yeah, why would it start anywhere but the start line? When we run Suzuka we always start it at the starting line, not the lap line.

Managed a 1.42.976 last night on practice. Honestly, a 1.42.7, .8 is my limit here if I can nail the final sector. I hate those last corners, so tricky!! If I get a flat 43 on Q, I am a happy fella.
