Are they Pumas?
Erm, did practice/qual get changed? OP says 28 January with race day on 4 February, which are both Mondays.
I heel-toe in my car all the time but have rarely done it in GT5. Is there any real benefit to doing it in game, or is it just for fun/practice?
Marcus might be right, but that's way too much downshifting for me. I do it just for fun/practice. My real-life practice is to downshift at most once per braking zone. Utilizing engine braking in GT5, say on the front straight of Nurb/24Hr, requires three of those. That's too much room for error for me.Yes. In this situation, the main advantage of the heel-toe is going to be allowing you to downshift sooner in a braking zone to utilise greater engine braking/turn-in without upsetting the car.
Didn't do any gated-shifter racing lately so I had to check if this is true. Does not seem like it is. Gotta let go off gas when shifting.Dude you don't even have to let off the gas. Just floor it push the clutch in and shift down hahaha.

I don't have a third leg to keep it slammed on the gas.Down shifting you can leave your foot slammed on the gas all the way down to the floor while you shift down.

Great idea Owens. It's too late for me on a weekday, but hopefully this gets big enough to where it needs a weekend race too
Explains why you can't race more often than two times a weekHmmmm, I do. At least that's what she said.
I know I have a DFGT too but I guess that's life in a nutshell for you.You make those of us with a DFGT want to cry. A time and date that I could probably race on a track that I love and with an awesome car
sigh
dsgerbcSo I adjusted the clutch grabbing point, which was way too low for my liking. It helped, but not completely. So I investigated further. I usually heel-toe once per braking zone, somewhere toward the end of it. It would seem that at least on my end it won't go in gear on a heel-toe downshift if you put the gear into the gate when engine revs are about 1k rpms higher than what the current speed would imply in the target gear.
So, for example, 60mph in 3rd gear would require 6000rpms, so if I rev it in neutral above 7000 and try to put it in 3rd, it won't go in. Don't know if it's just on my end, could someone pls try it too?
So, to deal with that I'll just have to heel-toe earlier in the braking zone. That way, over-revving the snot out of the engine, the lower gear goes in every time. Perhaps that's what Lock2Lock meant: you can shift into lower gear holding gas to the floor if your current speed means you'll be above redline in that gear.
Lock2LockHey i might have a friend of mine that wants to join the race you have another spot?

Hey everybody! This race sounds like a most proper way of embarrassing myself! I would like to join in, with a G27, driving my Alfa in Merlot Red with Gold Chrome Enkei ES-Tarmac rims. She's a byooot!

Tomorrow night we do practice and qualifying to set grid. Those that don't make it are still welcome to race. Those that qualify will guarantee their starting grid.
With all the dfgt guys wanting to join, what do you think about doing something mixed class in the future ? Maybe dfgt guys use different car or tires?
