Hope to race once I am back from bathurst :)

REMINDER
As per the new qualifying setup. All drivers participating in the test race need to submit their qualifying tyre to me and jasr73 (via PSN or GTP) 1 day before the race (Sunday night at the latest).

Once you have submitted your tyre choice you CANNOT change it. So make sure your 100% on your selection before sending me the PM via PSN or GTP.

Cheers.
Oni

Sorry Oni, only saw this today....

I will be on Mediums, please.

Thanks and sorry again

Hey Guys,

Just put together this replay from one of Monday night's post qualifying race in the M3's at Fuji GT.

Check out Maggatronz massive sliding drift slide around the 9min mark. :)

Looking forward to the practice round for S8!

Wtf @ the 12:45 mark the cars change colour haha

Well spotted Tait. Yes it was Rod's blue M3 switching the camera view to my black M3.

I should have done a cross fade between the video transition but only noticed after I'd finished rendering it. Oh well I know to be more thorough with my next video!

Cheers

First off i'd like to thank those that made it to the test race (even those who kept trying to join but PSN had other ideas).

The test race went off without a hitch. The starting procedure and qualifying procedure worked as intended and made for some exciting racing/chasing for all. There were a few concerns raised at the end of the test race which will introduce some slight changes but nothing major. The changes will be posted tonight.

Also i noted down a few drivers that seemed to struggle in their tier. While this could be due to not having a setup in the car ready or no practice time in their cars, i will still keep an eye on them and if need be give them the option to move down a tier and keep their points. Same goes for anyone dominating a tier even with ballast. Though i doubt this will happen as the pace from everyone last night looking at the lap times was very close.

If anyone has any concerns that they think need to be addressed then don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers,
Oni.

Oni, my biggest problem is car set up...hence I never joined last night.
My car is a virgin (just how I like them...but that is another story....) but when it comes to tuning I don't have much of a clue.
would it be possible to get a "Base" tune as a starting point????
OK, I know we can also search the forum too for a tune, but I really struggle with this. (and I know I am not the only one)
For this reason that is way we do not have tuning on a Tuesday night racing. We do not have the time to set up the car.
I hope to make the race in two weeks time, will spend some time trying this baby out

cheers

Velly

PS, if you like drifting, then Tuesday night racin gis the place to be lol

Hey Velly,

At current my 06 Corvette is stock standard, all i've done is brake bias and transmission, it's how i run my cars - i rarely have a setup. To me, a solid result means much more because of this.

Velly: I was in a similar place not that long ago. I knew a few basics but didn't know what to do to change a certain characteristic of a cars handling that didn't agree with me.

One day I decided I just needed to spend an afternoon on the forums at GT planet and deal with it ! There is so much information on here , not just specific tunes for cars but alsdo detailed guides to the fundamentals of setting up suspension.

I have found that driving style and setup go hand in hand. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another. I'm sure you're familiar with that scenario. So throwing on someone elses tune isn't an instant soultion most times. It may be helpful , but there's always rom for improvement.

This video is a really good starting point. Shock tuning is a small but pretty effective way of ironing out any bad handling issues. I wrote down the basics from this video to help me in game.

Hope this helps you.

ORS | SEASON 8 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

We kick off the season in America around the famous circuit Laguna Seca, known for the famous corkscrew chicane for a 65 lap race. This race will test a drivers setup, consistency and ability to keep out of the sand.

ORS_S8_R1.jpg

A few corners people need to be mindful of not cutting are turns 6 and turn 9. In regards to turn 1 you cannot cut out wide (where the brake markers are) crossing the white edge lines. This doesn't mean you can cut other corners. The standard ORS rules of 2 wheels must stay within the white track edge lines applies at all times for all tracks during qualifying and racing. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently or frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 8. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding pit exit around Laguna Seca please use common sense if you come out in front of another driver. I suggest everyone to keep left and HOLD your line. Also there is no pit exit line you need to worry about crossing on exit. Also be mindful of your entry speed to the pits. Anything faster than 80kph at the apex of the tight left hand turn will see your B-spec unable to negotiate the turn resulting in crash to the barrier and time lost.

Beware the sand. If you do have an off be wary of the reduced grip level once you've rejoined the track. Also when rejoining, please aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

As this is the first round of season 8 i remind everyone to check that their car meets the updated (Spec.II) car regulations posted previously. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) and Ferrari Italia 458 will now be running 503bhp at 1250kgs. You can only install the parts on the list. No additional parts are to be installed (Sports manifolds, ECUs, air filters and so on). Now you do have the option of running the standard exhaust over the racing titanium if you prefer the sound. You will lose HP and Torque doing this but that is your choice (looking at you Rota).

I remind everyone that the honesty system is in place. I have raced with you all for a long time and expect everyone to follow the rules. I don't want to be forced to hold car checks before races. We will be checking replay's for abnormal performance, if stewards suspect a driver isn't following the rules we will hold a car check and expect drivers to cooperate. If a driver is found to be abusing the rules they will be banded from season 8 and all future ORS series.

Now finally all drivers must make sure they submit their tyre choice for qualifying/race start by Sunday night. Once you tyre choice has been submitted you cannot change it.

Regards,

Oni
ORS Committee

Just an FYI , I'm out for Monday. Got those dreaded early shifts at work again. Good luck to all , should be some great racing if that test event was any indication.

Cheers for the heads up Spin. Yeah should be some great racing providing PSN doesn't have issues again.

ORS | SEASON 8 | CHANGES

Below are some further changes to the Race Procedure.

S8_RaceStart.jpg

Once qualifying is complete and the grid positions have been read out to the drivers. The drivers will exit pit lane and line up in order of T3, T2 then T1 (T3 being at the front of the group, T2 in the middle and T1 at the back). Once everyone is in position we will start the race. This is to ensure the grid is sorted correctly for race start.

Example: Race start grid positions. (T1 starts from back)

T3 | T3 | T3 | T2 | T2 | T2 | T1 | T1
T3 | T3 | T3 | T2 | T2 | T1 | T1 | T1

This season we will incorporate staggered starts. During the “3,2,1 Go!” countdown only Tier 3 will leave the line. Tier 1 & 2 must keep their brakes applied. Looking at the total time in the corner Tier 2 will leave at 10 seconds then Tier 1 at 20 seconds.

Anyone caught jumping the start will be issued with a 20 second penalty to the total time. If a driver continuously jumps the start they will suffer a point penalty and/or miss the next race (Stewards will rule on this).

Please note there is an honor system in place here and all drivers are expected to abide by the new start procedure in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

Cheers boys.

Just to let you all know depending on how GT5 servers are tomorrow. If we have an unstable/server bootfest then we will be postponing round 1.

Hey all just got back and ready to go, well almost! Haven't unpacked and done no testing, dont know if i even have that ferrari. But really keen to get into the next series. Just had a quick read of the new rules and thought I better nominate my starting tyre, Hards.

See ya all tonight

ORS | SEASON 8 | R1 ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to GT5 servers being the mess they are right now with random lobby errors and full room disconnections round 1 will be postponed till next week.

Everyone will start in the same qualifying positions which we did tonight.

There will be no qualifying for next week. We will line up in qualifying order and start the race at 9pm. If any wild cards decide to join next weeks race then they will start at the back of their tier on racing hard tyres.

While we did manage to do 21 laps before the server boot we will still be running the full 65 laps next monday.

Cheers,
Oni
ORS Committee

Apologies for the issues on the start Oni...I had my mind elsewhere...so I just gave me a penalty for that and pulled over to the side and let everyone pass.

:banghead::rolleyes:

No problem Rod. You did the right thing and used common sense. You wouldn't be penalised for that. This is the kind of consideration i expect from everyone in the series. If you make a mistake use common sense to correct that mistake during the race. For example if you hit bump someone of track (regardless of their position) you should wait for them to rejoin and then continue racing.

Cheers again for doing the right thing Rod.

Now that the server issues have been resolved lets hope for another great turnout this monday. Will give a few of us time to re-tune their car as i know mine needed a lot more tuning as it was a handful lap after lap.
