Oni this is my first sprint race under the new format, so we have 2 meds and 4 hards available for the entire 3 races and 1 qualifying correct?

Do we need to nominate a tyre before the start of each race (race 2 & 3)

Obviously pit stops aren't mandatory with the new tyre wear correct?

All 3 races are counted as a race weekend. Which means you have 2x medium and 4x hard total to use for all 3 races combined. There are no mandatory pit stops.

For example.
Qualify & Race 1 you use mediums
Race 2 you use hards
Race 3 you use mediums

You have 0x mediums left and 3x hards left. You do not need to nominate tyres for race 2 and 3. Just make sure you all stick to the tyre limits or penalties will follow.

Starting after tonights race if drivers do not give me their qualifying tyre by Sunday night then they will start on racing hards by default.

Oni,
Just to set my mine straight, the following pics will all be classed as cutting a corner???

Thanks for clarifying this mate :)

Great point Velly, that will make a big difference

Hey, not sure why but those photos seem really familiar to me?
None of those pics would constitute a cut I would suggest guys :)

Cheers Jas, it is great what you can find on the internet these days (when you are not looking for p0rn lol)

Oni,

As Jase said the photos you attached are not considered as cuts. We are using the same rules we did for the MX5 vs CRZ series.

Thanks for clarifying this mate :)

I never post my tyre choice in the forums but it's always in the Championship spreadsheet under tyres before Sunday night.

So qualy tyre tonight doesn't count as a set? Coz if it does then your example used 3 of the 2 available mediums.

Tyre compound limits apply. Each tier has the following compounds available.

2x Racing Medium
4x Racing Hard

The following ORS tyre rules apply;
No mixing sets (i.e. RM front and RH rear)
Qualifying and Race start count as 1 set used
You cannot change sets during qualifying
You must start the race on your qualifying tyre
Pit lane opens end of lap 7 for first tyre compound change
Pit lane closes with 7 laps to go for last tyre compound change
You must use all tyre compounds during a race

Stewards will make a note of each driver’s tyres and penalties will be handed down if you fail to comply.
Penalties can vary from warnings, point deductions and to disqualifications.

The above should answer your question.

can't load profiles on community tab. You guys should probably start race 2 without me. Will try fix for race 3

Thanks mr chan, I seem to not be able to connect to the gt5 online everytime i load the game it just sits at the gt5 logo loading the game and then says connection error some code, anyone else experiance this problem? wildcard is fine with me atm still oviously having some sort of issue

Mine is really slow loading fella since the last big update. I tried re installing the game but didnt make alot of difference.
Best wasy is not to log into your PSN before trying to load the game. That does improve the loading time massively!
once you are in the game (GT life page) then log in.

hope that helps

Hey guys
There is a small problem with race results data.

I was awarded 131 points overall but i got a pole position and two fastest laps and i was not awarded points for them. I should be 139 points overall... Therefore i should be first overall.

Fastest lap/qualifying points have no effect on the overall race winners. Just the points scored for podiums affect the results.

Also until Jase gives his findings on whether said fastest laps were clean then points will cannot be applied.

Cheers.

Oni, this weeks race will be a weather one at Suzuka. what is the score with this?
Last time I was at a wet race it was a mess one who was runnign what tyres???

What if I call hards and it is wet at the track?
what is the ruling for when it will be called a "wet race"?

Cheers

ORS Season Eight - Round Three
- Fastest Lap Reviews For Points -

Firstly sorry for the delay here guys, was trying to post last night but GTP was having some issues due to recent storm events in the US.
Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes to those folks doing it tough over there at the moment.

Some great great racing on Monday night, got to say reviewing the racing, the skill level, right across the field is impressive. TM is tough track, a mini Ring' in some ways with it's bumps and strange cambered corners and there was some incredible racing from all - real knife edge stuff. Hat's off to all for an enjoyable and at times, intense evening. 👍

Tier 3
Race 1
Mag's lap of 1.24.637 on 2 is legal
Race 2
Asuka's lap of 1.26.685 on 6 is legal

Also a few quick happy snaps from Tier 1 - I bet there where a heap of great moments from the other tiers as well. :)

ORS_S8TM_Start.png

Our starting line up - just look at all those smarties.

ORS_S8TM_Onii_Chan.png

Chan man on RH in Race 1 (with damage) holds this emergency drift that started before the apex and finished somewhere near Perth.

ORS_S8TM_Rod.png

Rod in Race 2 pulls an emergency opposite lock correction before the first tunnel that saw him at 90 degree's to the track - quite a remarkable piece of recovery.

ORS_S8TM_Toiv.png

Race 3 Toiv makes a rare error at the bottom of turn one in Race 3 and somehow still manages to keep it off the wall despite mowing the lawn.

ORS_S8TM_Jasr.png

Wondering why I was struggling with traction over the hill, the replay revealed all.

Cheers,
Jas

Oni, I have a new wildcard drive who wishes to give monday nights a try..
wackojacko6969, he has had a break from gt5 for a bit but is now back in the chair.
I would suggest he comes in as a T3 wildcard

Cheers

Oh my lord work has been chaotic this week, i had all my words typed up at work on Wednesday but the PC got shut down over night so i couldnt post it.

Qualy - As per normal i had a bit of a problem finding a quick lap in the reletive short time frame, wasn't helped that when i first got on track i needed a transmission change so i lost close to 4 minutes before posting a lap, my car is quite loose on hard tyres and this track it was a bit worse then normal but with only 3 cars in tier 2 this week i wasn't to fussed.

R1 - Using hards i knew i had nothing for red on mediums, my plan was to sit behind Jol for the race and if i had the tyres/chance i'd make a move with 2-3 laps to go, for the first 7 laps my plan was working out perfectly until Rod caught up using his mediums, i fell off the back of Jol's car whilst stupidly watching the mirror for Rod, running wide out of the right hander out of the first tunnel i dropped my left rear tyre on the grass, the combination of hard tyres/loose car and the grass was more then enough to send me hurtling to the wall. Pitted for new hards, crashed again so i decided to mark it up next to Moon, shut off the engine and blast the horn at Moon and most other drivers as they came passed.

R2 - My goal for this race was P1 overall and it was my best race to do it in, my main opposition for this race would've been Jol and boy did he live up to my expectation. Charging out of the gates i wrapped up red heading into the first tunnel knowing if i wanted to make my target i'd have to move quick. Jol followed suit and we set our eyes on catching T3, we came up on velly first and i didn't want to muck around getting passed him either, dropped a wheel off in the braking area coming out of the first tunnel forcing the car to step out wildly infront of Jol and Red, credit to the both of them for avoiding me as we all kept damage free so we all could continue as normal. Caught back up to Jol and made my intentions clear early, got passed Jol and shortly after got passed velly. When i came up on Cac I pulled a very close call over-and-under move on him heading into the back tunnel, wasn't much room left but made it passed. Only person between me and my goal was Asuka, i had a fear in my mind of how i was going to pass him heading into turn 1, in typical mrt style i tried it round the outside at turn 1, but credit to asuka he backed off and let me go. Jol followed me through on all occasions and kept it clean all race, on the second last lap jol ran wide and gave me a nice buffer that i wanted to drive a smooth/clean last lap, all was going to plan until i cramped up in my braking foot and ran wide and hit the wall, i wasn't going to let Jol simply drive away with the win so i kept on his exhaust pipe, Jol had an uncharacteristic error, over correcting and hitting the outside wall heading down to the last chicane. Seeing this I had no intention of sitting behind and taking second, Jol ran wide out of the second part of it, i dived down the inside and squeezed passed him to take the victory, almost lost it by doing a celebratory handbrake to far from the line but still made it.

R3 - Knowing T3 would majoritiy be on meds i didn't even try win overall, instead i chose to sit back, drive clean and protect my tyres, once again Jol took up residency on my rear bumper for the majority of the race until he ran wide and dropped back, pretty un-eventful R3 but was stoked to win again.

Memorable moments:

Cramping under brakes whilst leading on the last lap
Overtaking Jol out of the last chicane to win R2
Closing my eyes when i realised i was going to try pass asuka round the outside
Touching the grass at the end of the back straight causing the car to get loose and panic the driver.

Once again, credit to all drivers especially Jol for an amazing night of racing, not so sure i can back it up at Suzuka even if it stays dry. I will get some photo's up over the weekend.
