ORS | SEASON 8 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For round 4 we head over to the land of the rising sun and the home of Mazda for 50 laps around the famous Suzuka Circuit. The weather forecast for Monday night is rain so get out your wets boys and girls. Its going to be a slippery one.

ORS_S8_R4.jpg

This track is very straight forward with the ORS white line rule for all corners. I will note that you cannot use the run off at turn 15 (corner after back straight before chicane). You can only use that section if you have to avoid an accident but you MUST not use it to gain a position. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently and/or using run offs to gain advantage frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 8. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding the pit exit around Suzuka make sure you do not cut the pit exit line and be mindful of cars approaching turn 1. The car behind has right of way so please you common sense to avoid any collisions. You may enter the pits flat out around Suzuka without being penalized. Therefore you are not required to reduce speeds when entering the pits.

If you find yourself off the track be mindful when rejoining, please aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for Monday night.

Tier 1
Rod_AUS - 70kgs
TTR-Toivo - 35kgs

Tier 2
Jol_1 - 70kgs
Mrtaital - 35kgs
Redness-63 - 25kgs

Tier 3

Cactass - 60kgs
Maggotronz - 25kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Now finally this track has officially been declared a WET RACE. Everyone will be qualifying on Racing Wet tyres.

The settings for qualifying are:
Weather at Start: 100%
Surface Water: 100%
Weather Changeability: 0

Race Start settings are:
Weather at Start: 100%
Surface Water: 80%
Weather Changeability: 7

Reminder the weather for qualifying will be locked to full rain to avoid any qualifying issues. If the track dries up during the race you are not required to run all compounds but MUST NOT exceed your tyre compound limits.

Oni

I would suggest this.....

The settings for qualifying are:
Weather at Start: 100%
Surface Water: 100%
Weather Changeability: 1 0

Otherwise the settings will not remain consistant.

Are we allowed to use as many rain tyres as we want? or do rain tyres take over our number of slicks????

Smooth driving and throttle inputs, don't try give 100% throttle anywhere unless your on a straight otherwise you will spin up and lose control.

What's the difference between the intermediate and wet tyres?

Never raced wet races before.

Wet tyres give you more "grip" in full wet conditions 65%-100% track surface water over intermediates. While intermediates give better results 50% and below. So if the track is very wet use the Rain tyres and if a track is drying up then switch to intermediates. Intermediates are faster than rain tyres but it all depends on conditions of the track surface.

Just never give the car full throttle ever during a wet race and you need to be smooth with the car. Don't force the car around the track. Brake early, do not trail brake and stay smooth.

Should the number of laps be reduced to avoid going over 2 hours of racing?

With weather being unpredictable the 50laps should be fine. If it was non stop rain for 50 laps then we would be going for a long race but it should clear up at certain points during the race. I've done 3 tests and had different results each time.

First test was 15 laps and by lap 12 it stopped raining with the track getting dry. Second test it stayed wet for 10 laps. Third Test the rain stopped by lap 5 and was try by lap 12.

not a problem, I am happy to run T2...i will be spending the night in the sand traps...will bring my bucket and spade :)

All,

Thanks for the attempt to get me back in but the lag was huge. Rain and the number of cars killed me.

Oni,

Next time I suggest the last people to enter the room should be the first on the track. I had not problem getting on when it was just me but as soon as I tried with everyone else I laqged. Being the last in the room and with the rain pushing the host cpu, it looked like I wasn't getting all the necessary crap from the host to get in at the time GT5 needed it.

Anyway, I took my aggression out on BF3 and snipped my way to an upgrade. :) cutting a few throats also helped.

Tonight's race can jam a rabbit up its ass, tonight never happened and I want redemption at montegi.

Bad night in the office Mr T???

After only doing 2 laps in the vet before the race i know i was in for a long night, jacko was 1.6 seconds quicker in our practice!
I ran a wet set up, so once it dried i was stuffed? diff and trans was all wrong..still learnt alot about the car, looking forward to giving it a good go next week.

lag and logging in issues are a pain! last night i was hit with logging in issues, did a full reboot and ps3 was running slower than ever! I just waited to go last to the track and it seemed to work...thi is the only thing i hate about the game :(

also, well done to jacko, sadly he ran on Hards as I dont think he knew we could run mediums! look out for him next week ;)

That sounds good mate. We will definitely give it a try next time if we have these issues.

I thought I would share a video of MrTaital joining us on Tuesday when the OzCoMoBros did a night of revisiting past seasons.

This is a clip from Season 4, RUF's V Beetle Cup Cars.
T is in the Green Beelte, I am in the White Ruf....enjoy

Oni with the new ability to change the rooms tyre wear settings what are your plans for us, leave as is or a change?

I personally vote to leave it as it is for this season unless forced to change.

That's right mate we are not changing the tyre wear for this season. Next season may see a change though.

ORS | SEASON 8 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For round 5 we remain in Japan and head over to Twin Ring Motegi East Course for 75 laps in the dry. ;)

ORS_S8_R5.jpg

This track is straight forward with the ORS white line rule for all corners. Therefore i should not have to advise what is a cut and what is not around here. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently to gain an advantage then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 8. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

The pit exit around Motegi East sends you out a third of the way down the main straight. Make sure you keep right and do not merge left onto the racing line unless it is clear to do so. Remember the car behind has right of way so please you common sense to avoid any collisions. You may enter the pits at full speed without being penalized. Therefore you are not required to reduce speeds when entering the pits.

If you find yourself off the track be mindful when rejoining, please be aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

Tier 3

Cactass - 70kgs
maggotronz - 25kgs
wackojacko6969 - 25kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Now finally i need everyone's qualifying/race start tyre by 11:59pm Tonight. If you fail to provide me with your qualifying tyre by the deadline you will be forced to qualify and start on Racing Hard tyres.

Oni

Also Oni, could you confirm how much weight should I carry for this race please? I am not 100% on what should it be.

Cheers
