SFGTP3 - "The Threesome" - Yeah, Baby!

@ ceiling_fan:

@ SimRaceDriver: No worries, I'm planning on lining the 3 cockpits up against the wall so there's no pedal shiftiness going on.

@ CAMikaze: I'll be giving you a call at some point this week to make arrangements with you about collecting you from SFO on Friday. Either of those places in Berkeley would be good, and should be easy enough for us to come and grab you from on Saturday & Sunday morning.

@ jump_ace: I have your details too, and will be at Oakland to collect you too!

@ bergauk: I'd definitely need you to have reliable transport for the Saturday evening, since we'll be heading out to the pool bar after the day's racing is done, and if you're under 21 they'll not let you in! (And you can't stay in our home unsupervised! :P)

T-minus 5 days & counting....

Gotchas. ;) Dunno what can be done about Monday morning though. I have to be at SFO for the flight home which departs @ 7 am!

I'm also hoping to hear from my local Best Buy soon about an order I places with them regarding a 2-pack of Memory Cards that I'll be needing for the weekend. Any idea as to the location of the nearest Best Buy where you are?

Hey "Strop"...If you've still got room available in the suite, let me know and I'll split the costs....Think we could sneak "CAMikaze" in, in the event he's not found a place yet?

PM me and I'll shot over my cell #...

Looking forward to some fun racing, and enjoying a cold one when the flag drops on the last race Saturday night! :-)

Let me know as well, OK? :D

Same here, but in a more non-alcoholic sense. ;)

I know I'll need a cold one after racing all day :dunce: I haven't had a good beer in quite a while, atleast a few months. I'm picturing a nice foamy Guiness stout or a nice golden Heff :)

Hello guys. In case you hadn't read it yet, the results are going up (steadily) for 'The Nono', UKGTP9 (shameless plug.)

I won't be finishing them off for a week or so, but Saturday's fun should get you raring to go for 'The Threesome' in case you're not already revved up enough.

It was fast and furious, I tell ya. :D

Linky in my siggy.

@Ceiling_Fan: I'll do my best to have the bartender do what they can to 'hold the fizz' from your "Rocky Dew" (Mountain Dew on the 'rocks'..hehe!)

@Venari: Great write up so far! I'll have to wait till I get home to finish reading it! Can only hope our 'staff' can do an equal job in providing detailed race results that would make you feel as if you were actually there!...

I'll make a note to not only bring my webcam (if there's going to be an extra PC/laptop...and if running 'vista', wont need any addy software installed) but my digi. cam as well, as to ensure proper 'racer portraits' are taken! :D

Just so you know, I booked myself a room at the Berkley Inn.

Uhmmmm... Anyone looking for a place to stay for the weekend? :D

/\ Bummer man, maybe next time. Have fun camping.

OMG OMG OMG....c'mon is it friday yet?!?!?!?!?!?! :)

Hey...CAMikaze..If I don't get a response back from Strop about his RSVP's...I'll spit the costs w/you man as I would def. need a place to stay..

How much is it per night?

Thanks,

SimRaceDriver

It's $64/night for the room. :)

Also, I just got off the phone with Smallhorses and told him I plan on not only bringing my laptop with me, but I'll also bring a silver Slimline PS2 with 2 copies of GT4 in case one of the other systems develops any trouble during the weekend. I also shared the thought with him that maybe a 7th PS2 could be hooked up for the purposes of having some of the attendees not racing be able to watch the action unfold without standing too close to the other competitors. Dunno if any of you have been to a GT LAN with such a setup on your part.

Well, I'm currently sitting at Sea-Tac enjoying a beer and salmon burger before I make the metal-bird trek to SFGTP3. Hooray! :D Looks like the weather will be pretty good, too (not that we'll notice :)).

Wow!
T-minus 2 days....:nervous:

Have just either spoken to or left VMs for everyone on the attendees list, except Kyle who is probably hurtling through the stratosphere in his pressurised metal can as I type!

Fridge is stocked, snacks are plentiful, just got to clear some space in the garage and clean the floor and we're all set.

Can't wait! 👍

Thanks for that, I lost my phone and couldn't call it 'cause I had my ringer turned off. However it beeped to notify me of a VM which located it for me! Didn't even think of that. :dunce:👍

I've been complaining to friends and co-workers about how lousy and useless road signs are in Washington. I would now like to take this time to nominate the great state of California. TWICE I have tried to follow the signs to Emeryville on I-880 northbound and TWICE I have gotten horribly, horribly lost. This time I even tried to do a little preparation beforehand (yay maps!), but I was still stymied by the signs, whose arrows point straight to the 7th layer of Hell. After a slight (and scary) detour through the slums of Oakland and Berkeley, I finally found some familiar sights, and made it safe and sound.

Side note: Enterprise gave me a sweet Passat, not some crappy Taurus :D. Tomorrow might involve some driving, methinks :mischievous:.

Just a message to wish you good luck for "The Threesome", hope you all have a great weekend of racing and excellent company, and I wish I was coming too. Still, I can't be too downhearted at not being able to attend, since I have been lucky enough to have been at the last one! Have fun, everyone 👍

So I was supposed to be replying to Kyle but didn't do it right. Oops!

You should have just asked us! It's simple - Bay Bridge, 80 East, Exit at Powell or Ashby. Done. In 3 easy steps.

See you all later. Can't wait!!!

I have :D

Ensure the host is set to "7" machines. The 7th machine needs to be set to "Monitor" and also needs to have a designated machine to Monitor, so enter that machine's network name in "Replay Monitor". Other than that, all is peachy.

At the recent UKGTP9, I went with static IP provision. It seems to have no significant advantages over automatically assigned IPs, save for what happens when the LAN falls over - it's a lot easier and smoother to reinitialise the LAN - and that you can predetermine grid slots in a logical manner. It offers a mild disadvantage in that it requires more setting-up and the Network Config file is not transferrable between machines - you must set up the Network Config file using the machine intended to use it - which means that setting it up cannot be done ahead of time unless the machines are all already there. It's not a massive fuss to set up - assign a name, an IP address (1.1.1.x - where "x" is the machine ID in your LAN) and a DNS address (255.255.255.0) and leave everything else as-is.

The Enduro worked quite nicely - we had a variety of pit strategies which all ultimately proved fruitless as the cars which went off the least finished in ascending order... :D

What Famine is trying to say is that basically, I suck. :) And he's right. However, daan was too much of a gentlemen to even think that he might have wanted to beat me over the head with a DS2, so I think I got away with it. :D

Update: Talked to EDK a few hours or so ago and got confirmation that I'm able to have a place to stay the night....EDK...👍's up man...You Rock!

And to be honest, had EDK not called, I was considering canceling on coming over as I'm planning a surprise trip to AZ next week (A few weeks earlier then I had anticipated actually) and was trying to save as much money as I could, seeing as the airfare alone was $300+/-...

And felt that paying $50 for gas, plus possibly $50-$75 for hotel/motel, plus $30-$40 for food for both days was going to be too much...when added to the cost of my trip to AZ would just take too much of a toll on my bank account.

However, someone who owed me money, which I had honestly forgotten about over the last few months, paid the amount back, so now that I have my airfare to AZ covered (:D), so I'm now financially able to attend my 2nd SFGTP event..even though I know I'm not going to win any races this time around! :D

Less then 24 hours folks....

PS: At 8PM PST..click the link in my sig and stop by my show to say 'hi'....sorry...little self promo there! LMAO!

Cheers,

SimRaceDriver

Hmmm. Now I know why you let me drive most of the time! ;)
That'd be great for getting from SFO to Emeryville, but Kyle was coming up I880N from Oakland! :dopey:

The signs are confusing since it seems to recommend taking the 980 exit for Emeryville/Powell St and then you do have to detour down 51st St and MLK Jr. Blvd by the Children's Hospital, when it's actually easier to stay on 880N, follow 80E signs for Sacramento, and exit at Ashby/Shellmound for Emeryville.
Still Mapquest always tends to give shortest routes, not necessarily the safest or most convenient routes! (And besides it knows Kyle likes West Oakland gas stations! :P)

The monitor thing is kind of a moot point, as we don't have a means of recording the output of the monitor station, unless anyone happens to have a spare DVD-Recorder hanging around? Also the garage is too small to have a monitor screen set up! It's cosy enough already without added complications, even the webcam is a little intrusive, but we'll see what we can do. The first and most important thing though is to make sure those that're here to race get to race and have fun since they've made the effort to attend. 👍 Putting on shows for spectators is nice, but not worth holding up the racing for if it's not going too smoothly! ;)
