Looks like Kimi might be going back to the red team:

Welcome back Iceman. We missed you.
Now, time to kick some RB a$$
at least on Constructors.

Let's do this!

He doesn't drink a lot, he just think water is only good for showers, washmachines, gardening and.. wetting some tits!

Andrea Stella: "Ok Kimi, Fernando is.."
Iceman: "Oh, don't try to tell me that spaniard is faster than me, I have a Gorilla mask on my wagon, just leave me alone I know what I'm doing"

:sly:

In my opinion and as Massa fan I think he should go to sports cars, make a fresh go of things away from the people and pressure who have probably never allowed him to fully recover.

What team would be dumb enough to favor Massa over Hulkenberg?

I mean, every team has now seen how slow Massa is in a car with which Alonso is still desperately fighting for the title with. Meanwhile Massa is nowhere.

I'll admit Hulkenberg hasn't been anything special so far yet. But it is clear that Hulkenberg has a lot more to offer than he does now, and definitely deserves a decent to drive. I have no idea what has happened with Sauber either. Kobayashi and Perez were doing wonders in that car. Now the Sauber team only races in the shadow of their former self, as implied by this year's livery on their car.

I can see teams wanting to pick him up to have an experienced driver, but if you're going for results then I don't think Massa would be on my list. Just get Stoffel Vandoorne in a car already! Or give D'Ambrosio a second chance, although he probably is happy with his role with Lotus at this point.

Nothing special? What about setting pole in a the wet in a Williams in 2011? Almost finishing on the podium and leading the race for a good while in the wet in Brazil in 2012 as well as scoring so much in 2012 with FI and qualifying 3rd, finishing 5th in a Sauber! at Monza this year?

I think it's no question whether they'd take Hulkenberg over Massa. Massa would probably demand too much money as well. No way they should take him, too old, on the decline. He needs to go to a team that's trying to get on its feet/have a steady benchmark Rubens style in order to be desirable and useful. There's also the fact that if he's gone, there'd be no Brazilian driver, and Brazilian broadcasters won't have that, and Bernie knows it, so I'm sure he'll have a hand in making sure Massa stays. Trust me, he'll be there next year.

I'm gonna miss the guy at Ferrari, but his time's been up for two years now, Ferrari could've done so well if they had picked up someone else earlier.

And it looks like the feeling I had about Alonso not wanting to stay at Ferrari if the Iceman returned could end up being true. Kinda sucks, really wish Alonso would pull his head out of his ass sometimes.

You get measured by how you perform against teammates and he started his F1 career by being beaten soundly by old man Barrichello (which is no embarrassment, Rubens was always fast, even at the end). Since, he's beaten shaky benchmarks in Di Resta and Gutierrez, so we really have no idea how good he is. There's no evidence that he's faster than Massa, Nico still has to prove himself against a proper benchmark driver. I do hope he gets the chance next year to do so.

Honestly, the only times I've actually noted down Hulkenberg's name was his pole in 2011 which, let's face it, was purely down to luck. And this weekend in Monza. That's two times in 3 seasons his name has drawn my attention. Nothing special really. Exactly in the same way how Maldonado has scored one victory, and outside of that pretty much done nothing but upsetting people and costing his team money.

Compare that to one Vettel who scores his first point in his debut race, winning a race in his second season in a vastly underwhelming car, scoring 35 points in his second season, and almost becoming a world champion in his third season. Just to put this all into perspective.

As a brazilian, is very sad to me even imagine a F1 season without a brazilian driver. It would be the first since Emerson Fittipaldi in 1970. And this only shows the utter collapse of the motorsports here, which makes me even more sad because i know that we gonna need another Emerson to rediscover the way to get to Formula 1 like he did.

That being said, i think that Massa have to think about what he is and what he cares. If he only sees Formula 1 as a proper racing, ok, lets go to Lotus or Sauber be the another extra to the main show, and spend the next years slowly dieing as a racing driver.

If he cares about win, do something meaningful on the sport, i think that the next best thing would be the WEC. There is space there and as far as I know, there is free cockpits on Porsche.

Porsche will really push hard on WEC for years to come, he is relatively young for endurance series and Le Mans never saw a brazilian winner.

But i bet that he will stay on Formula 1 just because is the only thing that the majority of brazilian drivers sees.

Hulkenburg's talent is proven by how many races he has starred at the front in midfield cars. He's done it at Williams (Brazil 2010), Force India (Belgium, Korea, Brazil 2012) and Sauber (China, Italy).

He very almost won Force India's first ever race in a straight fight against 2 McLarens.

He has done more than enough to warrant a top seat chance..certainly a lot more than say Perez and Grosjean, never mind about Maldonado, Di Resta, Ricciardo, Sutil etc.

Standards this high and you bring D'ambrosio's name into the picture?

Maldonado's actually won a race, in a decidedly midfield car, so by your line of argument he's at least as qualified for the sharp end of the grid as Hulkenberg. Not that I disagree with you in any way about the Hulk's talent, mind.

Maldonado is the perfect counter-example. He's won one race and not much else. He's still not a very convincing candidate.
Hulk has at least shown his speed on numerous occasions now in wildly different levels of machinery.

Having said that, I'd give Maldonado a chance too before Di Resta, Sutil, etc. It's just I rate Hulk a lot higher.

Agreed. But the Williams has been so bad since the beginning of the second half of the 2012 season that it's hard to gauge whether Maldonado or Bottas are making progress. Nico is in a way lucky he's not still with the organization.

The Sauber is not exactly a rocket ship either.

How well do Kimi and Fernando play together?

Or will this be one of those 2 captains, 1 ship stories?

Official?

Notice how Benson doesn't provide a source, and specifically says it'll be announced imminently, so until it's announced by Ferrari themselves, it's absolutely not official.

That's not to say it's not 99% there, but yeah, still need that last bit to call it full.

I know, I saw the post on Facebook which said it was official, so I posted it here without reading it.
Only read it after I posted it and noticed it said Ferrari needed to announce it officially!

Doh!

Just heard about the Kimi transfer. Should be pretty good for him, he's an excellent driver, and Ferrari will benefit from having him and Alonso, so long as they get along and Ferrari don't try any stupid team tactics or try to put one driver above the other.

I see Massa going to WEC. If I were him, I'd rather move onto something else rather than languish in a Force India, Sauber or Williams.
