I gave this a go.

1'17.396 -- rank 5

Edit:

1'17.297 -- rank 3

There's another couple tenths to be had... I'll come back to it later

First post rankings updated. This is fantastic guys, exactly what was wanted. It has so far definitely fulfilled one of it's purposes to compare the skill of some of the GTP-ers around here. Those of you in the <1'17.999 are amazing. 👍

But we can't stop now. Even with 11 people already having registered their times, it would be brilliant if we could manage 100!

Keep up the good times. 👍

didn't you see my name? not the fastest time..i think i can take 3 tenths off that.

Sphinx - Do you have the G25 already? Did you use the clutch on that 17.176 lap?

I do have the G25 now, but I'm still using the DFP on this combo.

I have my DFP wheel settings on 'Simulation' and have the Force Feedback set to max (10). 👍👍

I'm using the sixaxis, I'm contemplating getting a wheel one of these days is there really much difference?

takes some time getting used to. it will make you quicker on the rwd cars but for awd i'm quicker using the pad compared with the DFP. i've only used mine for about 5hours though so i'm pretty sure i can improve these times alot.

its definately faster then the pad...just need atleast a week of practicing to get the consistent quick times.

i only got mine last week of ebay for £40, worth every penny imo.

+1 👍

What about a rig, I had a dodgy wheel for a while and sticking it to the table and trying to make sure the pedals didn't move around proved frustrating?!? Do most wheel users have some kind of rig set up?!?

I may have to look into one of these wheels ASAP 👍

new time for me : 1'17.771

I want more but I'm nearing the extent of my ability methinks

Will update once this post is done.

I must say though that there seems to something strange occuring in my lapping, I can manage to do the eact lines that Sphinx and the 1st placer do on the first set of bends but, yet, they speed off without me and I am left a huge .700 behind by the first sector.
I remember hearing something vague a while back that discussed the fact that there is a trick to using the wheel that allows you to maintain more speed through shifts. Could it be partially due to this?

EDIT:

As chemicaL said, could you please post your time on this thread as well. Its just that it's far more convenient on my behalf if you could so (I don't have all the time in the world). 👍

You're thinking of the clutch that's only accessible on the G25. I've viewed the top time and he isn't using it, and I'm still using my old DFP, so I can assure you that I'm not using it either. 👍

EDIT:

@ GT Pro,
Please don't double post, use the edit button. 👍

Maybe it's simply due to a relatively low amount of practice, but I swear I spend far too much time playing GT as it is. With an appropiate wheel I may be able to shave it down another half-sec, but then MisterWeary is doing great without one.
Ahwell, I'll never stop trying to achieve better than the rest (in the face of the fact that I may fail).

And yes, sorry about that. I was in a rush to get this thread updated.

New lap: 1:18.013s. Not much better...

I keep losing easily 0.5s on the left that leads to the bridge, can't figure out how he's doing it so fast and without losing grip or traction. It's pissing me off!

You need to post your time. I think you should change your sig.

i will post my time when i have improved on it, i'm not happy with it at the moment, i should be able to get 2-3 tenths off there without speeding much time on it.

and i will change my sig when i start using the wheel online, all of the races i do online are done with the pad, this time attack was also done on the pad.

i'm not having a go or anything i just thought you went through the top 100 to look throught the rankings and i just wondered why you didn't see mine. i will post my time when i have improved.

Eh, finding this hard, I'm losing a lot of time around the 180 degree turn up to the tunnel, I seem to be losing a lot of time accelerating out of there, I'm 2 seconds off the pace! Losing time everywhere else too, but most noticable at that corner.
Best has been something like 1.19.310 or something, way off the top 100 leaderboard.

I gave this a go for about 20 min and was only able to get a 1.19.6xx.....I really want to get my basement finished so I can get back on the wheel instead of the DS3 :(

I just didn't realize how good you guys are.

46th Tenitive. 1'18'338

Took off 400th today.. Looking to shave another 400th or so in a day or two.

Times updated, seems like GTP is laying down some nice times in the sub-1'17.999 area. Great work guys.

15 submissions so far. If there is anybody else you know that has a copy of GT5:P and online play available feel free to invite them to participate; spread the names of GTP members across the online boards. 👍

I gave this a few tries at like 4 in the morning yesterday, and the best I managed to get was low 1'19's. I was very tired though. I'll give this a few tries later on today. I'm sure I will be able to break top 100 easily, so I will post my time once I do.

Sphinx: The time you seek can be found in T2
I concur, I made up a bit of time there (very little, of course) in relation to Sphinx's ghost.

Anyway, I'm still having a lot of trouble figuring out how does he get so much traction out of the 2nd hairpin, and especially, the 4th, that leads to the bridge, as the difference in my best lap and Sphinx's is 95% on the 1st sector.
The rest of the lap is pretty much even, as I gain slightly on the 2nd sector, then lose again slightly on the last sector, as I can never nail the last corner well when performing my finest laps.
Yesterday, after doing the 1:17.893s lap, I did one where I was going .216 faster on T2, but ended up screwing it on the final turn; Sphinx's brake point and trajectory there are pretty much flawless, as well as throttle control. 👍

Updated with 3 other members whose times were not posted on this thread, but were hanging around in the top-100 club for our combo this week nonetheless.
