Anyway, I'm still having a lot of trouble figuring out how does he get so much traction out of the 2nd hairpin, and especially, the 4th, that leads to the bridge, as the difference in my best lap and Sphinx's is 95% on the 1st sector.
The rest of the lap is pretty much even, as I gain slightly on the 2nd sector, then lose again slightly on the last sector, as I can never nail the last corner well when performing my finest laps.
Yesterday, after doing the 1:17.893s lap, I did one where I was going .216 faster on T2, but ended up screwing it on the final turn; Sphinx's brake point and trajectory there are pretty much flawless, as well as throttle control. 👍

The key is not to overdrive the corners, especially at the hairpins. There's really only one "momentum corner", where it's critical to keep your speed high, and that's the left hander after the tunnel.

For the second hairpin, hug the inside white line. If you can't hug the line, you are going to fast. Ease on the throttle as you come out of it to maximize your exit speed. With an FF car like this, you can use the throttle to add understeer and widen the radius of the turn.

The fourth corner (before the bridge) is similar. If you go into the corner too hot, your tires will be spending more of their traction budget keeping you on line than generating forward momentum. Once you get it straightened out, you can jam on the throttle and get good exit speed (especially with some gravity assist). Getting it straight as early as possible is key, though you can use the banking of the turn to help with this a bit.

My best T1 time is ~32.04x. After chasing Sphinx's ghost for a bit last night, it looks like he's in the 31.9xx range on his posted lap.

Cool, thanks for the tips. 👍

I'll give it another try to see if I can improve a bit.

Took off another 200th almost.. 42nd.. I am determined to be in the 1'17's.. Look out!

EDIT

29th

1'17.999 heh.. I'll try to get some more tomorrow

EDIT II

1.17.872 21st :).

Question, is this still for the Integra around Eiger? I will give it a try in a bit and see what i can do.

Rankings updated (I think they are all correct, but nonetheless we've now 22 entries in less than 3 days!).
Im actually thinking of maybe streamlining the series of events to maybe Monday - Thursday; Friday - Sunday etc. as I want to get through more than 52 events per year. We will see what happens however, and how many people get involved in this movement.

1'18.223

*sigh* So garbage..=(

You should not feel so bad; I've been playing GT heavily since its few beginnings in 1998 until now (a decade) and I am still far-off the times of the others.

1'18.046

I just cant hit the long right sweeping corner after the tunnel, so until I can get a good line through it i think that is my limit.

I've tried numerous ways to do that right sweeper, and ended up sticking with how I've got my time: getting on the edge on the left, slight lift off the throttle moments after I start to turn right, making the right wheels go as close as possible to the edge on the right apex, and even before that, I'm already accelerating again. After that, it's a matter of managing the steering to clear the rest of that area without any lifting of the throttle and some luck too (at least for me).

I've tried to improve on my time last night, but after only 4 laps, I realized I just wasn't in the 'right mood' for it so I gave up. No point in forcing it and getting frustrated if I'm not feeling it at the moment.

I'll try again today, my goal is to get as close as possible to the 1:17.5xx as I can.
Of course, my ultimate goal would be to beat Sphinx's awesome lap while getting into the 1:16.xxx, but that might be juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a tad bit difficult.

1:17.789

Took me about 60 laps, but my knees said no more. :ouch:

EDIT: 1:17.616

I can improve about two more tenths over this, but I always mess it up at the big hairpin. I wish GT had an option to block the split times flashing on screen.

Well they've straddled me so I'm torn as to whether or not I should battle this beast again :)

I'm definitely going to put on a few more laps when I get home from work. 👍

You too working as hard as you can... same here! 👍
"Working hard or hardly working?" ;)

I'm leaving work now, but can't get home right away, gotta stop by the animal hospital as my cat had to be taken there due to a liver failure.
She's on life support and being fed through a tube, doctors are still clueless on if she'll make it or not. :(

Guess it'll be another "drink to forget" night for me...

(if I act weird online, you know what's it all about)

done. 👍 top ten spot. :)

edit: Sorry to hear about your Cat... We have had one too so I know..

edit: 1'17.156

Little improvement for me 1.17.377.

Don't worry Timppaq, I'm coming :sly:
