Don't forget people the race tonight at Tokyo R246 is in Toffe's lounge 👍
Yup, race tonight in my lounge. Have not had time to practice much to be honest, but will start the lounge about half an hour before qualifying starts. (and that is about one hour from now :)

Apart from the usuals who get let off as first time (seb n haig hope all is good) this really was a pathetic showing.. We started with 7 on track and finished with 5, we should have at least 14, i know a few like culkin n loskey said leaving but I expect a turnout from the likes of the rcs crew and I wasent really surprised at grand not showing up as only lasting 1 race last series but we need more or this will be the end of the TVR champ and I dont think anyone who was there tonight can deny that

poor showing tonight will be worse next week as i am withdrawing from the series .

the drivers are far to aggressive at the overtaking and not in the spirit of GTP:tdown:

Apart from a great battle with Sic at the start for a few laps and then you (R35) after I went to RM tyres it was quite a boring lonely race. Toffe made it exciting at the end after he pitted for the 2nd/3rd time, came up fast on fresh tyres and was very close across the finish

Yeah but I'm probably gonna be out if this is all the racers we get, sadly :(

My race report:

Matt showed amazing speed in qualifying, however, I managed a really good lap and beat his time. Eventually he took the pole back and I started 2nd.

Got an okay start, managed to keep R35 behind me and began chasing Matt. I had practiced way too little so I made small mistakes here and there and began losing contact with Matt (which made me irritated because I felt I did have the pure speed needed today to keep up with Matt). Anyway, R35 eventually caught and we had a nice fight. R35 made an ultra-block on the start/finish straight , but I had blocked quite a lot on the previous lap too. All in all, a very nice, tough but clean fight which ended with R35 moving up to 2nd. I made my first pit stop on lap 10 I think and changed to mediums. To my surprise I got out ahead of R35. jonzster began chasing me. In my usual fashion I pushed my front tyres too hard and thought it might be the best to pit again which I did. (I did 2 stops, not 3 hehe) Then I began chasing jonzster and it became really exciting for me as I got closer and closer... jonzster was faster than I thought on worn tyres though. On the last lap I managed to get right behind him and thought I would be able to slipstream enough to overtake him.. but it didn't work so it was a 3rd place for me.

I agree too few people showed up, but other than that at least I had a nice race. I didn't see anyone experience any connection issues at all and that is very positive. I.e. for the first time in the TVR championship I could have a close battle with R35 without lag. Now we just need people to show up as they should...

You two were on a different planet again when it came to raw pace. I was surprised to see you pitting on lap 10/11 so I followed you in (I had a decent lap before and was much closer to you than on the previous laps) thinking we might have a bit of a race together, but I had a shocker of an out lap and you left me for dead  but I remembered you saying how your tyres were wearing out fast, so with that in mind I tried hard not to punish my tyres and I think it actually made me drive a lot smoother helping my lap time. Great finish in the end, thought you were gonna get the slipstream for a sec, man that was close :scared:

Connection was good tonight, no major issues 👍 Though on my replay I see others with some small amount of lag. I didn't get why we lost 2 people from the race, I take it not from being disconnected then?

Yeah, the finish was so exciting! That must be the closest finish I have experienced so far in this championship :) I really need to practice more on conserving my tyres.. :banghead: don't know why my front tyres always get so worn. Perhaps I'm turning "too hard" in the turns which makes them more worn or something. You must have conserved your tyres really well as you say.👍 I thought I would catch you much faster than I did.

Yeah, I think jamesy and sic left by their own, I don't think they were disconnected. Haven't seen what happened though.

Yeah it maybe turning "too hard" in the turns. I noticed I can put to much turning lock on my steering wheel and all that does is just scrubb the fronts across the race track.. wearing them out faster.

I kept on looking back in my rear view mirror thinking I would see you any moment (it's a good thing I forgot to put the mini map on cos it would have made me even more nervous  ) but to my suprise that didn't happen untill the last lap, luckily for me  Well done on getting fastest lap BTW , 1:35.3xx... amazing 👍

Ahh right... I've not seen any of their replay either.

Is the problem more prevalent in GT than any other game, does anyone know?

I was in an rFactor race all night with not a problem, lag, DC or rammed off track, sorry to say as it WAS fun but that was how Wed nights should be so GT5 takes a back seat now to rFactor

Thanks. About the last laps, I got you in my sight when entering the second last lap, it would be tight, but I thought I would make it at that point. But you kept surprising high speed, especially on the last lap! (Perhaps that absence of the mini map did help!) I had so much adrenaline in those last turns :) By the way, I'm quite sure that scrubbing you mention is what causes the tyres to wear like that.. it makes sense.

Yup there are spots open but I don't know what colors or numbers are available.

Also your starting to become my rival now lol look forward to racing you.

Oh glad I didn't see you that early then  there were some great moments in the race. I really hope we can continue the series, the connection and lag issues were zero (connection issues last couple of race must have been to do with my rubbish 10mb broadband) and there are some great tracks coming up 👍

its a place free here??

Yeah there are spots open, hope to see you at Suzuka tony 👍 matt needs a team mate if you don't mind pink ;) white and orange are the only colours taken that are being used by teams with a full compliment of drivers, the rest of the teams have either quit or are made up of only 1 driver, so apart from those 2 colours it's up to you.

Numbers, anything apart from these:- 1, 2, 7, 19, 20, 30, 32, 44, 57, 72, 83, 89

Now that the connection issues have been solved (as long as Toffe don't mind having the races in his lounge that is :) ) I really hope we can tempt more drivers back. The 2nd race at Grand Valley where we had 15 was awesome 👍

I don't mind having the races in my lounge as in last race. I'm surprised it worked as good as it did to be honest, because didn't Steg have a 10mb broadband too? :S I used race quality "standard" and voice chat quality on "very low" I think. Anyway, no matter why, it's very relieving that the connection issues seems to be solved. I'm looking forward to Suzuka! I also hope to see more drivers, the Grand Valley race was awesome as you say.

Everyone should do a ping test...For online gaming Ping is more significant...If everyone goes to www.pingtest.net
Whoever has the lowest ping is best suited to host IMO...
Just throwing in a few ideas...

Yeah I think so. I've only just discovered that I'm only getting half a meg upload though rather than 10% of the download like normal.
This is because even though my local exchange recently got the upgrade for 1 meg ul, my cable modem supplied by my ISP is too old to do it
For an extra fiver a month I'm going to upgrade to 30mb, should make for a better online experience hopefuly though I've done fine with this setup playing online on BF2 and GT5 (NSX Season) I do need a new modem though and you get one with an upgrade otherwise it's £75 for a new one, so may as well upgrade to faster package and get the new cable modem "Super Hub" thrown in :)

kk I went and did a test on speedtest.net I got 21ms (9.89mb dl , 0.49mb ul)thats wireless on my laptop. PS3 Is wired to my router.

Also ran the ping test on the link you posted

Thats quite a good connection speed...If everyone could do this then maybe comparing them will find the best person to host...👍

Thanks for posting the ping test link kk 👍 Just ran it on the PS3 browser, it came back with an error the first couple of tries then I got 42ms (10ms jitter)
Ran a second test to verify and got 40ms. Anything under 50ms aint to bad for gaming is it?

I just did a test on my ps3, it's connected wirelessly to my router (but with a high signal strength). I got ping: 33ms and jitter: 6ms. My computer is connected wired to the same router and gave these results:

Tested my speed too (on my computer) and got download: 23.44mbps and upload: 0.86mbps
