LMFAO! You are correct!
That Lister has turned me into the wall going through the chicane about 4 out of 5 restarts. :grumpy:

Okay, just spent an hour trying to get past all the cars on the first lap. I just finished my first 5 lap race. I finally passed the last AI car just after the chicane on lap 2. I thought COOL! Clear sailing for 4 laps! WRONG! The Penzoil GTR pounded me into the barrier at the end of the back straight out of nowhere!

I finished up by diving past the NSX under braking on the last turn of the last lap to come home 5th. 👎

These AI are BRUTAL! They drive like you aren't even there!

Gonna have to pull a new car out of the pits and give it another go. My first car is totalled already for sure.

Hiya tuff240 :
:D Try reloading another "Line-Up", in all the testing I did I don't recall the Lister showing up with the ride I specified MUST be in the race??? ...UB57 :D

The specified car is in there. I have found 3 different fields with the specified car. None of which are easy. :grumpy:

I've seen it in there along with the Raybrig, the Tom's and the Penz along with your specified killer car. :D

Edit:

Oh... By the way... Sent in my first time to ya UB! Takes a bit to get one clean  Felt like a jaunticed blood corpuscle trying to fit through the left ventrical of an overworked heart in that first little juncture after the flag. Decided to just let 'em have it if they wanted it so bad :D As long as we are on the medical descriptions, it was sorta like they all were racing to be a Daddy!

AI is happy to give you cheap shots in this baby!

👍 This is going to be fun!!! 👍

How many times are we allowed to touch the walls or are we?
I haven't had a 100% clean run yet. :banghead:
NO Wall kisses unless it's caused by the "AI" nudging (or Ramming) you.👍 ...UB57 :D

Just for the record, there's no such thing as "AI contact to your advantage" with this lot, no matter who initiates it. If the AI touches me, I lose. If I touch the AI, I lose. I'd forgotten quite how unfair PD made the physics in order to balance out the fact that the AI can't drive.

I just put 85 miles on my brand new car, which I've never driven, and I have to say I'm not liking it much. I have to shift so frequently I feel like I'm rowing a racing scull against a river full of ski-tow boats. And what I expected to be a traction advantage offers zip zero zilch in the way of acceleration bonus. Numerous times I've been rubbing elbows with someone after the braking point, only to have them leave me like a ball bearing out of a slingshot when the time comes to put the power down.

In an hour's worth of racing I finished one - count it, one 5 lapper. And on that one, like many of the attempts before it, I was in 1st place at some point in the 2nd lap... only to get pushed outside by the merest nudge, which of course allowed virtually the whole field to instantly slip by on the inside, even though they were last sighted a quarter mile and 2 turns behind me. That race was sub-8 minutes of flaming perdition.

Best finishing postion so far is 3rd, about 1.mid" behind the Tom's Supra and not quite half a second behind the specified opponent. For the record, I've never drawn a field that included the specified opponent that did not also include the Lister Storm. And let me tell you, I'm just waiting for an opportunity to make the SOB's car even uglier than it already is.

Damn, I was really looking forward to this, but guess what, I don't have the damn car. Where can I get it and who do I have to kill?

LMFAO!

I'm feelin your pain as well. I've spent probably 2 hours on it and have 3 runs saved. None of which are clean.

It can be won at: Professional League - GT World Championship

If you have a x-port, I'd be happy to email you a garage with it in it.

Thanks, I don't have an x-port (and I have pal VERSION) SO i GUESS i'LL HAVE TO SLOG IT OUT AND GET IT TOMORROW AFTERNOON.:(

Yep UB... I would say you have a race that will go down in the GTP chronicles as one of the hardest phive laps in OLR history! :D

I have to agree with about everything everyone has written so far. It is without a doubt a "tough nut to crack". The first lap is a session of trying to even stay on the track. AI contact is galore whether you initiate it or not. You can't hardly help but appear to initiate some of it when you get in the thick of things. At this point, I am pretty much resorting to ignoring the first lap's mayhem and resetting only if I have blatantly erred myself into the wall or deliberately tee-ed off on the AI. (Note: How do you tell that? It's like the AI IS tee-ed off  )

Second lap is a session of mind boggling questions. How in the world does that POS "Big Dog" go that fast? That car ain't that fast! How can he bounce off the wall so many times and not loose any momentum? How come when I should be in his draft this cleanly am I not hearing the quiet and why ain't I even catching up?

I agree about the physics neon_duke mentioned. This is definately a slingshot race  and I'm your basic target. On numerous occasions, I have had from two to four second leads running a lap that is on par with 1'31.9xx to low 1'32.xxx and no AI in sight on the fourth lap. Only to be demolished by nearly any of the AI cars at the end of the back stretch. They go right for my right front quarter for the wall pinch. Subsequently, I'm a month of Sundays trying to get back up to speed because my car suddenly is even more of a slug than it really is.

The other thing that I found about this is that I ran a race last night where the field was the "soon to be remodelled by neon_duke" big dog, both Supras, Castrol NSX and the infamous Lister Hurricane. I finished second with a time that is notably faster than the race I actually won that I submitted to UB. This lot was not nearly as brutal as other line ups I have raced against but they were certainly the fastest.

Too bad. I swore myself "NO ****" and i´m gonna keep it like that!
**** sucks bigtime...

[edit] Damage control by Moderator. The event rules specifically state No mention of car or location.

"Mornin' Guys & Gal:"
:D Don't have my PS2 on yet, but from memory the line-up that most of my testing was against includes:

The "Specified" Ride
Tom's Supra
Castrol NSX
Tickford Falcon
Mercedes CLK(?)

If the other combos are muckin' things up a bit I'd be very open to a Rules Adjustment. (Allowing 1 "Unassisted" Wall Kiss [NOT a "Thump"] per Lap maybe???) It's early in the comp, let me know what you think & first chance I get I'll go looking for the "Lister Combo."...UB57 :D

@ ExBrock & Toler...Sorry to lose you guys! :guilty:

I don't think the other combos are necessarily muckin' things up... In fact, I think it adds to the "spirit" of the thing. I'm finding it takes a different approach to each "field of entries" to crack the nut. IE: If you aren't having much luck with one, move to another, it might better suit your approach to the race.

As for the allowing 1 Wall Kiss a lap thing, I think you will likely find that be a welcomed rule change by most. This IS one of the toughest races I have ever run in this game. Since you have some limitations on tuning that some would typically ditch or modify way back from stock on this car/tire combo, it does make it more difficult to handle in tight spaces.

On the other hand, the more I run this race, the better I am doing with it and as I said in a previous post, I have found that I you can better your OLR time of a race you won with a race you lost. That means that for me, this is more about cleanliness of racing, anger management  and consistent lap times with the OLR side of it than it is about actually winning the race in game. When the smoke clears on this one, win or lose, I will be a much better driver than when I started. Of course, being somewhat sadistic in nature, I like this sort of competition. :D

By the way, I don't think you will have to go looking for the Lister, I guarantee he will find you! Even from another dimension. I believe I have seen at least six entirely different line ups with the "Big Dog" in them. At least one of them duplicated in actual line up but different grid locations. For instance, I've had the "Big Dog" in fourth right in front of me instead of in pole. I've also seen a grid with the Arta, one with the Rabrig (I think), one with both the Denso and the Tom's Supras, the one you mention and two others with the Lister Tornado that I think were with and without the Stupidford.

Makes no difference to me either way. I think a 3-5 slight wall kiss rule would eleviate any need for replay verification. I've run one race where I was out front by the first lap and pulling away (or at least holding the large gap) all while being 100% clean. Made a small error around the T1 mark on the 5th lap and they caught back up. They then pounded me into the turn at the end of the back straight. It was my fault they caught back up though.

My point is, it is possible. Someone faster than me will have an even easier time of it. So no wall touches would be fine with me, but I'd surely want to see some replays.

phattboy, I was also running the same 1'31.9xx to low 1'32.xxx lap times. That feels like about the best I can do and try to be a little careful and stay clean. Any faster and I'm really pushing hard which is when mistakes happen.

Yep... That's when I do my absolute finest screwin' up  when I'm "really pushing hard"...

Unfortunately, that is also where races are won :D

..... or sometimes lost. ;)

To finish first, first you must finish. :)

Not in this race...

In this race it goes... "To finish first, first you must believe there ith no AI"

My vote as for a rule 'adjustment" would be to allow ONE wall tap TOTAL, that way you still have to drive clean, yet you can still push yourself a bit. If you begin to allow too many wall taps, people will take advantage of it, even if they don't really intend to.

Or maybe allow a time bonus for a clean run, or time penalties for each infraction. That would definately persuade me to drive as clean as possible.

So those are my ideas, just throwing them out there for consideration or further discussion. Either way it should be a fun race. I just submitted my first clean run, so we'll see how it stacks up agianst all the submissions so far :)

Bah. I'm about a second to 1.mid" behind you guys - whcih makes all the difference in the world. This car is sure rev happy but it's got nuthin' goin' on down low... yet dropping to second on some of the turns leads to massive understeer.

I agree it's doable and it's a fun fight... but I'm chuckling to myself about the possibility of a "clean" lap.

I'm running automatic (as usual for me). There is no way I have time to watch for AI and shift at the same time. And for the record, I can't chew gum and walk at the same time either. :P

Okay... I wasn't going to cop to it right away but... since you brought it up.

I found this out fairly quickly: I started out running manual in this race. Then decided to give automatic a go a time or two just to see because the car/track combo felt like an automatic tranny race to me. I immediately was able to pick up nearly that second you are missing neon_duke.

Other things went with that. Lighten the butt end a little, brakes at full, tranny auto setting down around 30 (he did say we could play with that), ride height up a little cause of where we are with the front slightly lower than the back, shocks lower setting in front than out back for curb management. NO ASM/TCS. Stabs 1/1 or low also for curb management.

With this car on the tight ones in automatic tranny for me... it's turn/tap brakes early and then wait for the car to complete the drift out where I can see the second apex before back on the gas. Kinda diamond the doubles.

Edit: Not that I think I'm the greatest tuner, racer or anything... Just my two cents for what that is worth :)
