VCRC *Jaguar E-TYPE Coupe ‘61 @ Monte Carlo* **congrats to dsgerbc!!**

Just as a heads up reminder, and perhaps an alert for those new...
Race will be hosted in the VCRC Lounge, add PSN: VCRC
Note: The VCRC account is just the club lounge account. It will rarely be signed on.
Get the FR in a.s.a.p. to assure acceptance in advance of racing.
In order to check the league lounge, you must click on the coffee cup,
and wait for the room content list to present.
No yellow people icon will show, even when the room is full.

Also please note that all club communication should be done through GTPlanet,
and not directed toward the PSN acct VCRC, as nobody checks messages there often, if at all.

Did a little practice run of 20 racing laps in the lounge and with an average lap time of 2:00.6 (40:20.123 for a 20 lap race, lap 1 racing speed rather than warm up) tyre wear was fine. Fronts down to maybe 75/80%. Right rear took a pounding, by comparison, down to about 55/60%.

My e type has been sprayed in opalescent silver blue metallic, which of course is a colour which was stock in 1961. Wheels are stock.

Off for a spin.

I don't even know what those colours are!!! :boggled:

And just an fyi... I'm nowhere near the times that people have been reporting, so I'll likely be bringing up the rear... BUT, I think I'll be doing it in style. ;)

I'll be right behind you!

In VCRC lounge just now , cruising round Monaco.

I'm home this weekend and have this car, so I'll take the last spot. Mine is Opalescent Bronze Metallic. Any point in breaking it in? Mine is from UCD with 30k miles on it and I think 271hp just after rebuild.

I know we'll all be looking to jackargent even more now to come up with cool race ideas. :sly: ;)

Just a reminder to everyone about the WARM-UP LAP...

Race Event Procedure:
Qualifying to start at scheduled arrival time
Qualifying for approximately 15 minutes
Race of approximately 40 minutes
Lap 1 will be a WARM-UP LAP.
Speed limit will be 40mph / 65kph
#1 car on starting grid will set pace.
All stay in grid order, go single file through lap one, until the last turn before the Start/Finish straight.
Near end of lap 1, drivers should close all gaps and proceed with caution.
Drivers may go to full-speed upon exiting the last turn onto the S/F straight (ie: before the S/F line)

:yuck: :)

This...^^^^

HAHA everyone hates my car color. Oh well. I wanted to stand out. It doesn't actually go that great with this car but it's not THAT bad. Wait til you see it, it could be worse trust me, I tried others that were much worse haha.

Is everyone familiar with these paint chip colours but me?
 :boggled:

Should I be ill??? :ill:

They're colors from the first DLC. Polarized are kind of like really weird color shift or pearlescent paints. You'll see it sunday but the one I have is kind of like silver, with dark red undertones. The rims are just simple dark red. It doesn't look that bad in my opinion.

My post there...
Certainly colour shift colours would probably be offensive to some. ha ha

It would be really nice if we had a grid full of 1961 e types in 1961 colours - but, on the other hand if you want to paint your's matte pink or chameleon orange, I won't lose any sleep over it. I will however try & run you off the track (hmm there is really very little off the the track at cote de monaco)... so i guess ramming you into the amoco will have to do.

Only kidding, stewards.

Ironically, jackargent IS one of the stewards. :scared:

40mph is just 40mph or is it also the top of 1st gear?

I pulled that number out of my snoot-snout. :guilty: Sorry, it's meant as a "loose guide" to keep everyone following close but not bumping. I expect the lead car to set the pace... and everyone to not bunch up until nearing the end of the 1st lap.
I was actually going to say 50mph, but then I thought about people possibly winding up bunched up in the switchback hairpins. :scared:

:banghead:

I've just been advised that wife bought theater tickets for Sunday afternoon.... I can't race this one, it seems, if I wish to live in this house.

:banghead:

Tire wear should not be a problem. I just did a 20 lap run, and even though I abused the fronts with lock ups and sliding all the time, I was able to do a 1'58 on the last lap. No need to make any pit stops.

^Unless one floors it after every corner, or generally spins the rears too much. ;)
I find that one should be real careful with the 'go' pedal if the body is at all rolled to either side. I'm probably gonna shift BB a bit to the front to get even wear.

I found that the rears get a lot less wear than the fronts. At least for me. I lock up the fronts almost ever lap and even though I spin the rears for sure, they simply don't wear out in comparison to the fronts.
