UKGTP8 - The Ocho

It's a really sweet-handling little thing, meaning that almost all fast lap times are within a second of each other even across drivers.

:sniff: I suspect that my opinion of the Clio Race Cars handling differs from the orthodoxy.

For me, an Aston Martin DB9 on sports tyres handles well.

The Clio on race boots ... I'd rather drive a JGTC, which shows the depth of sorrow I shall have to have to sit in a Clio ...

You may yet end up in all three at various points...

Problem with the Nine is that it has the auto transmission ratios, which make it a bit of a dog in Arcade mode.

Although, you're right. Lowered slightly, on sports, lightened a little, with a power hike (to approximate the Vanquish S 520hp engine) and the proper manual gearbox ratios (with shorter final drive) it's a hoot. I love to hoon around Citta del Aria in mine.

Speedster - bummer. Try again in a couple of weeks. I'll send you my contact details if that will help. One thing about parents is that they can be stubborn. And quite right too.

Well, unfortunately, the show must go on, so while we're on this ever so slightly melancholic note, I am of course going to bring up the thorny subject of money.

The room is £250. There are 29 drivers confirmed so far. I make that £8.62 ea.

After such a fair deal on the room, I think we deserve a nice buffet lunch, so I'm going to order a buffet lunch for both days, but reduce the headcount for it to keep the cost low. If we say this rounds the cost up to £20 (or 5.69 a day.) I really don't think this is too bad a deal, in theory. How much food turns up will have to be a surprise!

So - 'The Ocho' = £20.00 - You may pay on the day, I'll be the fella holding the folding. :)

To organise a few funky prizes extra donations would be appreciated. Banbarians and Local People, please bear in mind our Dutch friends are travelling over 800 miles by car (and have to pay for the Chunnel and accomodation) so, your generosity is appreciated most of all. Everybody, PM me with your philanthropic Ocho offers of straight filthy lucre, bags of sweeties (Haribo mix, yum), old PS2 games, equipment, grannie's recipe chocolate brownies, colour telly, cuddly toys... anything. But mostly the cold, hard ca$h, folks. ;)

Also, regarding T-shirts: If you want one, you'll have to pay, I'm afraid. I'm going to find out how much tomorrow, but as a guide, I'll say £17.50

Top artistic operatives, racing enthusiasts and automotive clothing consultants are working around the clock to create a slick, sexy masterpiece of casual clothing that you will be proud to don for battle at 'The Ocho', and the fruits of their labours will be galleried on this thread right here in a few weeks time. Stay tuned, racefans.

Looks like we might have a special guest attending all the way from Egypt to add to the list :sly:👍

This is surely shaping up to be a great event

Ex-squeeze me? Baking powder?

EGYPT? So we'll have had UKGTPers from FOUR continents?

It's going to be good to have you back, mate.

Do you take Scottish notes?

I take Scotch Whisky. :)

I'm sure there's a cash machine down here that will understand your accent.

Crikey, you're going to be travelling almost as far as the Dutch, of course!

Meh! Even having made the round trip from Glasgee to all of the UKGTPs, daan's still got a bit of driving to do to catch up with the 22000 miles I've travelled for 2 UKGTP events! (Although admittedly I didn't drive all those miles! :P)

Does this now mean speedster502 is now going to post a whole page of exclamation marks?

Venari! Like the new avatar! Very suave! 👍

Ok.

My maths is currently confused...

Do you not work in earth days?

I can bring a prize, Moto GP 2006 for the 360, or have I just baited the tiger? :D

G.T
Showed your parents any of these images yet?

Note the look of horror in his face!!!

I can't look at the pic of Diego with both guns blazing without collapsing on the floor and bursting my bladder with laughter!!!

I also think Diego's idea of the Beat round The Ring is one of the best things in this thread... People will be hard pushed to say any race that was as much fun as the Beats at any of the previous 3 lans!!! 👍

Lol, have 3 teams per lan with both a normal and saleen beat, but only the place of the normal beat counts :)
The drivers of the saleen beat may only push the normal beat of their own team offcourse

edit:
Looking at Venari's new avatar it's a good thing this lan isn't taking place in Newark.
Otherwise it would've looked something like this:

Yep, there's been a distinct lack of bobbins in the last few UKGTPs...

Excuse me if I took that the wrong way David but Kel explained it was my formal swear word at the last UKGTP I attended and set me straight :P

I'm as Drunk as a Monk tonight after all them holstens ;)

and yep I did edit my original post :P

I want to go! but i can't for pretty much the same reason(s) as Speedster:(

I want to go! but i can't for pretty much the same reason(s) as Speedster:(

you both live in Lincolnshire, so you could both get a lift down, hopefull your parents will agree if you are both going and are both the same age.

Have you asked if you can go.

So, Ochoists... who at The Ocho is going to be handy with a video camera? (and later, editing software.) Would that be daan? Anyone considering bringing a DV camera?

Suzzie has a great camera with video capabilities so thumbs up from her regarding photos and short videos.

I'll be bringing my camera too to take some pictures of all your ugl- lovely mugs.. :)
