Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Well now my dad and I are thinking of heading down late Thursday. It would be a lot easier and could catch the other race but pulling the popup around for no reason seems kind of weird.

Any thoughts? I'm assuming my tickets will be good on Friday even though general admission while my camping pass is for 2 days.

Here is a little sneak peak from my driver's production company Weekend Warrior Productions

Only four days until it begins; the final season of Grand-Am.

 Ridiculous! This is not the final season of Grand-Am.

Please, don't say that, you'll jinx it. I'm not even superstitious, but, saying something like that... :grumpy:

And, on a less serious note, Con-con, change your avatar to a 2013 car, would ya?

Well...kinda sorta it's not the final season of Grand-Am, just the final season it will be called Grand-Am and have the same classes, and all that. So...technically it's not the final season, but really...it is. I'm going to try and watch all of the Grand-Am AND ALMS races this year, but we'll see. Should be fun.

Pretty simple. It seems most don't drive more than like 3-4 hours at a time and no one tries to Ironman the event. Also just because you do drive for that long doesn't mean you won't be a front runner either. I'm sure some will disagree but look at Baja 1000 for examples even this year there was an overall winner who never got out of the truck for over 20 hrs straight.

I don't follow Baja but I know of no endurance series that doesn't limit the time a driver can be in the car. I don't know what the single-sitting limits are for various series, but they require participation from more than one driver.

I'll have a new avatar after the Rolex 24. I'm leaving the good old chase on for now.

On Friday there is the Ferrari Challenge race at 11:45 and the Continental race at 1:45.
Try to see the Continental race at least.
Schedule for the weekend.

As for the ticket, check the dates, it should have dates on it.
2 of my tickets have dates on them.
The other says weekend.

If you still have a spare ticket I know someone in Florida that may want it.
Private message me if do and are interested.

Above all, have fun!

Ferrari Challenge race? Cool. Wilbur you flying down? The Continental Tire Challenge race isn't one to miss, just a heads up ;)

Nah I'm driving and pulling a popup for infield. Pretty sure I'm leaving Thursday
/Friday around midnight to head down and find a room or camp site. It's supposed to snow again and rather get through all that.

I've been to a few Grand Am and ALMS races, get there asap and grab a good spot.

You mean seats or camping? I have a reserved spot in the yellow section so that's all taken care of.

I guess I will miss the races on Friday as my tickets are only for Saturday/Sunday.

That's too bad. Make sure you get a super 4 day ticket next year if possible. That's what I have gotten for the past 5 or so years. It's 85 dollars infield+grandstand. The garage pass for Thu/Fri is $20 I think in addition to that. It's a great deal. This year it will be 28+ hours of racing for a little over 100 dollars :D

Well I wasn't planning to even go down early til my dad said something about it and the threated of winter weather. I did pick up my garage passes and as right now we actually have yet to pay for anything on the trip out of pocket.

I've done both, if you have reserved seats you don't have to worry, but it's good to arrive early if you're camping or just have general admission of some sort.

Last year, we had to park almost across the street it was so packed at the Rolex 24. I'm expecting a lot more people there too.

That's a great looking grid! Thank you for posting the picture!

So... GX is going to be an all Mazda class? Wait there's a Cayman in that class too right?

Love that Ferrari with the Brazilian flag, great looking group, can't wait for the weekend! Got my Red Bulls ready. No Evora GX? Or did I not look hard enough?

No Evora. 3rd party parts supplier couldn't get the spares in time. :(

In the meantime...

Lets see, 44 GT cars and 17 DPs (assuming I didn't miscount). So about 61 cars for this year's field, pretty good turnout even with the omission of the Evora GX and the TRG Astons.

I've got 34 GT, 6 GX, and 17 DP from the website. That makes 57 cars. I didn't see the second Waltrip Ferrari and the 5th Audi.

Great looking field! Should be a great race to watch! Really hoping for a good result for the ESM guys!
