Not sure what's wrong with that, they were right after all...
Was it Imola 2021 when lewis was all alone on the start grid after the formation lap as everyone peeled in for inters?
I understand safety is important, but it seems the FIA uses the word "We did it for SAFETY" so much its lost all meaning.

Whats next, red flagging the race because a leaf feel onto the race track?

Aaaaand Red Flag on the formation lap.

Gotta say, Monaco is doing a hell of a Florida cosplay right now.

I predict Latifi, Maldonardo, Mazepin or Mick Schumacher crashing into Leclerc at turn 1 as Leclerc can not win Monaco.
what year is it GIF

They can only do so many formation laps before they won't have enough fuel to finish the race, assuming it even happens.
Brundle has already nailed it:

"The throttle works both ways."

To be fair, if the race had started by now, the red flag would still have come out but we'd probably have lost several cars already.

The multiple Formation Lap thing is baffling me though - that was almost guaranteed to set up a situation where cars would have run out of fuel...
Still, at least there's some actual motorsport on. (If only for another 35 minutes.)

And BTCC on ITV4 now too...

It’s going to be like Spa and this is how Leclerc will win his first Monaco gp.
Nah, we're just gonna be sat waiting until it stops so they can start in inters.

The laps would still have been cut off the total, they just wouldn't have counted towards "race" laps like they did in the Spa farce. They have to be green flag laps to count as proper laps towards the requirements for points.

And those drivers left would have earnt their reputation and/or salaries in the world's premier motorsport series.

Another problem is "Restart in x Minutes" the rain has stopped and by the time the race restarts, it will rain again.

There does come a point where they need to make the most of a break in the weather and just go racing. I don't believe we need to wait for clear skies for helicopters or anything like what happened at Spa etc, so they should be able to see a gap and go for it. The track will dry very slowly without cars displacing the water.

The rain has stopped, so let's get the show on the road now, not open the pit lane in 30 minutes and then start the formation lap another 30 minutes later.

This is the thing, their 'procedures' take too long, there's a break in the weather, get everyone in the cars and on the track. Need cars clearing water.
