Of course, Sony could also stagger the distribution of the patch regionally, which is an often-used strategy for the release of any large update to reduce network congestion.

Thanks for the answer! I wonder if you will be able to trade them. Probably only with other people who bought the DLC if it's possible

that's true. You can only get DLC cars if you have the DLC. In Forza, you'll lose a car if you gift it to someone that doesn't have the DLC. It errors out and I've had cars just disappear. Some you can't gift. Not sure what's up with that but that's the way they do it.

DLC tracks are the same. If you're in a party or a lobby you pull up a DLC track and a few people that don't have it won't be able to ready up. I don't think they can even be spectators without it. But the ghost cars are a way that dlc cars can co-mingle with non dlc cars.

Hope that helps out.

GT5 Spec 2.0 FTW!

Now I'm not trying to look to hard into this or anything, but I'm just bringing it up 'cause it caught my eye and I don't know what it is.

And it's probably nothing, but seeing as we don't have more information coming in yet I thought it might be good to try and gain a little more insight into it:

This is one of the few screens we have of the upcoming spec 2.0 update. I noticed a little, tire?, icon that represents a certain percentage of something.

Now, to play a bit of charades: to me, it sort of looks like a little tire icon with an arrow possibly pointing to a road surface with a percentage read out representing some sort of grip meter or amount of water on track at the time?

Maybe someone has seen this before and could shed a little light. It could even have been there before in Arcade mode but I wouldn't know 'cause I've never played it. Other than that, I'm stumped.

here the full sized picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6214831370/sizes/o/in/photostream/

Dunno what that symbol meaning :ill:

So yeah, looks like we'll get a little read-out of how wet the whole track is. It's at 0% because that's what it's currently set to be from the start of the race.

Thanks for the bigger picture. It's a water droplet, not an "arrow" like I thought xD

So, with the DLC, new tracks and cars are coming!

Do you people also think that there is no need for this?

I have raced with maximum 100 different cars... I did not drive even on each track in the game...

Why? Because PD makes no use of the content. So less events in A-Spec... What we need is much much much more intelligent and good made races...

Ever heard of racing online?

Are you serious??

I'd give a limb fot more tracks:tup:

apart from SSR7 and the ovals I drive most of them on a regular basis.
Can't wait to get some more.

How cool would it be to drive around Spa or Bathurst(wishfull thinking) in you Super GT GT-R

What Fredde said, and did you miss that the physics and AI will be improved in this update?

I like the Nascar idea better and better. Can be cool for SSR7, ovals and more highspeed tracks. And, there won't be 2 the same cars on the track

I'd give a limb fot more tracks 👍
Me too! Except for the giving a limb part. And the "fot." Couldn't resist. :sly:

But I'm hoping that with the update, the new tracks are integrated in the A-Spec races. In fact, A-Spec really needs an overhaul as much as the Rally physics. It needs to resemble GT4's wealth of races and Manufacturer Cups, and ALL the tracks need to be included, as well as more sensibly themed. For instance, only American courses in American-based race series, or those that resemble American terrain in the case of fantasy tracks, the same for DTM and Super GT races, etc.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, (huge topic) but there's a small detail I thought of. Standard cars having generic cockpits means head tracking will work on standard cars as well.

(Yes, only in arcade mode).

hmm didn't see the fot untill you pointed it out :dunce:

gave the giving a limb part anonther thought.
could be a problem operating my G25 so I withdraw the offer:sly:

I agree with you concerning the races:tup:

+1...

And now one question, if surface got 10% of water and no rain, almost dry, what would the AI choose? Dry racing tires as I would choose if I drive with a race car or intermidiate and then going on the first lap to the pits to pick up slicks? Ha, ha...

...which could mean that there will be a time-change-version of the TGTT...

I'm not sure if I would pay money for a track that is already in the game with a day-to-night transition, especially if its the Top Gear Test Track. That is a track where it is too easily to accidentally get a time penalty :ouch:, that's why I never use it for online races.

This is what I was really hoping "Spec II" would be about. Now that they made the new tracks DLC I can't see them using them in A-Spec. I can't see them making DLC part of the core events of the game. At best the DLC tracks will be used in new seasonals. At worst they will only be available in practice mode and online. To me that is the most disappointing part of this "Spec II" update. Oh well.

Any new information yet? Seems like were all twiddling our thumbs for the time being. As far as dlc, in nfs:shift you got new cars along with new events. Don't see why the same can't happen with GT5. Get a car to only be available online? Yeah right, that goes against what PD has done so far.

If they do implement a time change, it wont be DLC, that'd be a stupid move on PDs part. It would be part of the Spec 2.0 update if any...

The DLC will have to include additional A-Spec events, it would be foolish for it not to. A lot of DLC for other games even comes with additional trophies, I wouldn't expect otherwise for GT5.

And, can't one turn their headlights on-and-off on a racetrack to begin with? I've played GT5 since day 1, but I guess I've never really noticed...

Yes this is true, but only for premiums. Then again if it is a day track, you are only allowed to flash your lights on a premium IIRC.

All good, except no livery editor. Instead of this one feature that probably 90% of players want, we get a "racing gear pack".

I'm really at a loss for words to even try to guess at explaining why they did this.

they are probably saving that feature for GT6.

They saving RAM ;)

BTW: What I thinking about is damage. Improved physics are claimed. To me damage is part of the physics engine right?
And I think about that GTR'RM, its black. For now we have only white RM's right? So...;)

Doesnt make sense, whats the point of new tracks if you cannot sue them anywhere except online If thats the case spec 2 won't mean much to me.

A-spec is smaller then shift in Gt5, thats just wrong. What Gt5 needs is ay more intelligent races, events. flags...Ai that scales to your car....... Come on PD.
