PP/Balast question:

For example, if my car has 597pp do add the weight making it lower pp?
 
Pretty sure. Cause if you kept same pp you could net extra hp by adding weight.


I'm sure all will be using full aero this race
So figuring out the pp's should be simple the time.
 
It does reduce the PP, but there isn't anything stopping us from bumping up the power or aero to get back up to our original PP limits. What's going to be done about this?
 
Is there stewards available sometime tomorrow night? Asking ahead of time, I will probably qualify monday or tuesday if possible, will get as much practice as I can tonight, running full aero for laguna seca, not sure how much HP that will be...

Shouldn't there be weight checks for the ones with ballast?

There is. All will become apparent. The gt500's will have a weight check and pp checks, the gt 300's will have weight, hp and pp checks.
 
Correct. There will be a reduction in pp to cover the ballast

My RX-7 '04 goes from 530pp to 528pp with 30 kg's on it.

But I hope you will also do weight checks before the race? Else it would be possible to just turn down the aero to lose a few pp's, it might not hurt as much as the weight on some tracks/cars.

Any tips on how to turn a pretty good race set into a qualifying setup. The setup is fast, but good times come in only after 3 or so laps so it's no good for qualifying. I've tried adding some camber but I was wondering what else could I do?
 
Adding negative rear toe will help get better turn in.

Because of my Admin place and all the work I have to do in this series, I don't have a lot of time for practice in the week, this is why I do my quali session very early and with a bad time...lol
And I have no time to wait for an "Official Steward" when I want to qualify.
So, TEAMRAD and OK8 sounds perfect for me ;)

My preseason testing times were 25.5 for the Lexus, a Subaru, and the Celica. Hope to break 26's in practice with some luck and ballast.
I think this might be the single track the Lexus isn't slower then any other car, it's usually mid-pack on most tracks.

My PB is 1:26.500. SO much freaking work to do.

EDIT: 1:26.0... still not good, but much more reasonable!! Especially considering I'm rubbish at slow tracks.

Been running good times all night, I almost reached a 1'20.9 in fact, if it wasn't for the last corner. So I decided to qualify in haste, presuming I wouldn't get so near to those times later in the week. And what do I do? All over the place in the 1st lap, go stupidly wide in the 2nd. Fastest clean lap was a 1'28. Such good lap times and I let the pressure get to me again. Feel like I've shot myself in both arms and feet, don't think I've ever been this gutted, makes me just want to give up. Pfft, I'll be lucky to even get into D2.
 
Ouch Biffy, that sucks mate. Laguna is a horrible track in that regard; if you get it wrong, it bites you hard. This is imo the circuit where consistency is most important than at any other circuit.

But qualifying is pretty important too :(

1:20:9? Wow that is fast. RH or RM?
 
1:20.9...????? Are you sure? I only catch a 1:21.9... S2 pole was a 1:21.1 with faster specs than S3. :confused:
 
We were hitting 20.7 in practice last season with more power but it is possible S3 spec's since Laguna's quite technical. He might've also been on mediums, I don't know.
