Great racing last night guys. Had a great first 10 or so laps with rota pushing me all the way, I was not going to try and race him cos I knew my tyres would not last but a bit of racing fever took over and we were having to much fun to back of. In the end my set up was to much on the edge for worn tyres and my concentration and skills were not good enough with to many little mistakes. Anyway had a great race and great to see the full grid, was a little laggy at the start but not bad considering the full grid.

Well that's online racing .....
:indiff:

What bothers me is that on the same connection I am running lag free on all games. Even iRacing on a US server on WiFi I'm still lag free with excellent quality.

I'll try next week too see if my alter ego shows again... Mr. Laggy.

Regarding last nights race..

First off, bad luck Moon you had great pace and really put in all the hours/effort to have a solid pace for the opening race only to have it ruined by PSN disconnecting you from the race. Bad luck mate. You will still score points as you disconnected from the race and didn't quit the race.

Waynz i honestly don't know what to say mate. PSN/PS3 must hate you when it comes to GT5 racing. I'm not sure why you showed lag as you stated you have no problem with other games. Maybe try the trouble shooting area of the GT5 forums and run through their checklist of opening ports etc. Join the next race and see if the lag is still persistent. Hopefully it resolves for you to join the series as it be great to have you back in the thick of the action.

It was great to see a full field of 16 drivers for round 1 and have very minimal opening lap lag to not cause any problems. Hopefully we can continue that throughout the series though i am dreading the idea of 16 cars going around Monaco for round 2.

Now onto the race.

For me this opening round proved to me why the Viper is going to be a challenging car. Once i heard Rota was doing 1:57s during practice (1:57.9 for pole) i really had to dig deep and find a setup/tune/combination of parts to help inch me closer to that time. In the end the best i managed was a 1:57.6xx so was pleased with my pace come race day. One the race began i quickly learnt that having pace meant nothing in this car if you can't overtake. I tried hard in the opening laps to overtake but just found it very difficult to get around people and once i did get around them i ended up pushing to hard to try get away which resulted in me losing the position i just gained and all the hard work i did to pull off the overtake. I finally caught on to Red and decided to sit behind him as his pace was exactly what i wanted for my hard stint only to end up with us getting a little excited and having a little battle which resulted in the field closing in on us to join in.

Once i made my stop for mediums i had a little bit of room to stretch my legs out. I didn't push on my mediums as i wanted them to last up to 20 laps (didn't end up that way though), i caught up to a few drivers including DRZ-Hatfield and had some great side by side racing with him. We probably lost a mirror or two in the racing but boy was it exciting. On my final stop i knew i had enough tires to push to the end if i felt under pressure from behind. I tried to pull Rota in by doing a 1:57 followed by 1:58 lows but found i was only pulling him in by half a second at most per lap and with a 15 second lead and only 16 laps left i decided to abort that mission and maintain pace with him to avoid the field of drivers catching up. In the end i am happy with the result. Qualified 12 and finished 2nd. Rota you planned your race perfectly giving yourself enough room to breathe on the final stint by not having to worry about anyone catching you. Well done mate. A well deserved win.

Special mention to Toiv who managed to ring the neck of that V12 Vantage to score a top 5 finish in 5th place and DRZ-Hatfield for not quitting and giving me a great race even with the lack of practice he had and little time to prepare.

Bad luck there Moon. I know you have put in a lot of laps in setting up our cars. It would have been dissapointing to end the race that way.

It really is dissappointing that the PSN GT5 servers perform relatively poorly with many different drivers across the seasons. Espcially when you have done all the usual checks that Oni recommeds. First laps when all the cars are bunched up is dangerous when lag randomly cause cars to jump around.

Reflecting on my race, as you can see from the fastest laps times my GTR was far from the quickest but consistency was really the key for me to finish on the podium in 3rd place.

I was happy that that I didn’t make any major mistakes and I was able to punch out 3-4 laps in a row that were all within 0.1s of each other. My tyre strategy went to plan without any hitches. I was surprised to spend a couple of laps in 2nd place after Oni's 2nd pit stop. The last 10 laps were really tense for me as I had both Red and Toiv just breathing down my neck waiting for me to make a mistake on my fast wearing tyres LOL

Toiv did amazingly well to finish 5th in the Vantage. If I was driving that "shopping trolley" I surely would have been lapped multiple times.

I’m looking forward to next rounds race at Monaco as it’s a circuit that I hope suits the GTR’s strengths.

Thanks to Oni for the special mention :D

I had only done 2 laps before the qualifying session and so my gear ratios were not as I would have liked them to be (barely using 6th).

With more time I would have had a better strategy but hopefully I can go better next week.

I was ruing my little mistakes, mainly trying to find the best breaking point into turn 1 (as you all found out at the first start SORRY :() and the schumacher S which has a terrible bump as you are turning in and if you get the entry wrong, then you go off.

Had a few great battles on track, most memorably with jasr in the Viper. He would reel me in but I made the lambo very wide and he only got his nose in once or twice. Luckily the 4WD out of the corners made sure he didn't get a better look in down the straights.

Unfortunately due to this battle and my lack of strategy I forgot to check my fuel gauge and ran out with 3-4 laps remaining. Still I pushed on and managed to catch mick by the last corner and went over the line almost side by side.

Disappointed to be the last finisher as I was on track for 11th but happy to be a finisher.

Here's hoping my wheel and stand arrive this week, as long controller races are very taxing on the fingers.

Welcome on board Hatfield!

I remember my 1st race with the ORS back in Season 7 was also at this track. We were running the Citroen GT Race Car for that series. It was certainly a different kind of racing that I had never experienced before. All of of the drivers here are fast, absolutely clean and respectful.

You quickly learn the limits and that to get the most out of these races and be competitive you really need to be prepared to spend what time you can practising laps and working on your strategy.

Actually I'm still trying to figure out how to keep up with most of the guys. There are usually Ad-Hoc practise sessions that we normally get in together (jasr73 or cactass lobby) for us to work on tweaking our cars for the next track and compare our times against the rest of the field. Feel free to join mate!

Cheers,
Arie

Thanks for the welcome Arie.

My wheel and stand arrived today so I have tried them out doing some practice with the lambo on monaco.

Only a short go but getting comfy with the wheel and heavy break pedal.

Managed a 1:36 on meds but can do better. Just tricky with monaco as a little slip = wall and dmg instead of sand or grass.

Also, where can I find the number of laps for each race that we are doing?

Great racing on Monday night guys. Congratulations to Rota for the win, my teamie and Arie for their podiums and everyone else for hanging in for the full 48. Sympathies to Moon for the 🤬 DC and some unfortunate bad luck in getting caught up in Vend's off and Waynz - I hope you can get your connection sorted and stay in the series. I wont bore you all with my stories of equipment failure and general incompetence for round 1, I will simply say my apologies again Mr T. :)

Great pictures jasr, congrats.

About my race: kinda got mixed feelings, I could not get a decent lap in for quali, was surprised to see I got 9th.

Congrats to all in the ORS that we got a textbook clean and smooth start going with a full grid. (cough - on the 2nd try) Don't worry hatfield about start 1, we've all done stuff like that. Also there's a few things to get used to when starting with a full field, ie: framerate and PS3 speed can get choppy + a whole other raft of issues.

I was happy with the first stint, was able to comfortably hold behind Oni and Red as they did their minor back and forth. I saw that we were able to pull a gap on the group behind us. I stayed with Oni until he pulled into pits. That was all good.

But once I was turning laps on my ownsome, I guess I never held or improved pace. And did a slow drop back through the field. Very annoyed by the sight of my fastest lap for the race being on the wrong side of the 2 minute mark.

My lack of time in the GT5 drivers seat started to show as my legs gave out 2/3rds through the race. Concentration went out the door soon after and I just started to get more and more un-forced errors. After a late spin that dropped me right to the tail, I knew that was pretty much it.

Monaco next, hmmm, not sure how I'll go there.

Hi all

First and foremost I must again apologize to Cactus for tapping him into the first corner around lap 4. I take full ownership for that. I braked early and pulled up fine but in my haste to not let the Gallardo get away, I entered the apex a bit to fast and there you were. It happened pretty quickly, I don't think I even got a chance to hit the brakes until after we hit. Unfortunately we both sustained damage with you overshooting the hairpin half a lap later and me losing the rear end through the Schumacher curves a couple of laps later.

That moment pretty much defined the race for me, I slipped form 3rd to 11th, with a damaged car shocking tyre wear and a car setup that was great on new tyres. I had to pit early throwing my pit strategy out the window. After losing it a second time I decided it was time to pit and get new tyres and repair to car, now I was 15th thanks only to moons early departure.

Now I was on a mission, how many places could I make up. Not many as I found out, not until the field started to pit. I did have some mini battles with ONI and Red, and almost took Vends right side mirror off while passing him on the grass at 240 clicks. A truly sphincter tighting moment, I also took out the 100mt brake marker if you were looking for that.lol

After the second pit stop basically got into the grove and pumped 18 laps out of a set of hards and maintained position and pace.

Mental note, need to setup car for longer runs on worn tyres not on turning fast qualifing laps. The ford GT great turn in and mid corner speed. Not real fast or powerfull.Terrible on rear tyre wear resulting in massive oversteer on worn tyres, as anyone following me would have seen

Again sorry Cac as there was no way I want to throw away 3rd and 4th position
And bring on Monaco, I think this will be Nissan GTR's track,
"point and click boys, point and click"

Also, where can I find the number of laps for each race that we are doing?

As Jase said. On the main page (page 1) you can find in-depth race data provided by CacGraphs on post #2. You can also click on the main ORS GT banner on page 1 which links to my data sheet for the race. Be aware the number of laps for each round are subject to change but should give you a rough idea of how many laps we will be running.

Every Sunday evening i post up a pre-race briefing that everyone needs to read. This includes the number of laps we will be running, advice on pit entry speeds, pit exit rules and corners to watch out for.

A reminder to everyone of the tyre rules.

You have a maximum of 2 sets of mediums and 4 sets of hards to use per race. You only have 1 set of softs for the entire season so once you use them you cannot use them again for the entire season. I direct you all to re-read the tyre regulation rules again incase you skimmed pass them.

Once again Jase awesome photos and hope to see more from everyone to share their moments.

Here's looking forward to Monaco and adding some paint to those barriers. ;P

Hey guys I just wrote a big 🤬 off reply saying thanks, and how good my battle with jol was, and how good toiv did in that crap car and sorry tot he boys that got dropped or couldnt start the race, GTP didn't post it for some reason and CBF typing it all out again, Cheers :dunce::dunce::dunce::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Hey u'll
My race went OK but not great i got a great start and went from 14th to 11th by the first corner then a bit later i passed taits for 10th then ONI caught up to me on lap 4 and we had an epic battle until ONI pitted on lap 14.
My first :tup:stint on hard tires i was hoping to do sub 2:01.s for first 10 laps and then up to 2:02.5's ' by lap 20. BUT in the battle with ONI i was only doing 2:03.5 per lap anyway by lap 20 i was doing 2:05's ... Pitted for mediums on lap 20 and then began the chase up the field to first place by lap 34..I held the lead for 1 lap then pitted after lap 34 and then drop back to about 7th and then began the chase again..I pushed hard passing taits ,rod and toivo with arie about 7 seconds ahead and by the time i caught up to him my tires were wrecked so i could not get passed him...WELL DONE ARIE 👍

WELL DONE EVERYONE (:)

Great drive in the challenge car TOIVO

Well done Rota, you will be the man to beat in this series

You have definitely come a long way since you, me and spinner were fighting it out in the ISF series

Hahaha Wow thanks ev! I remember those days were we would plan our strategy against each other to not be in last spot!

I just took a closer look at the tyre rules and I think I messed up :( not sure if you need to penalise me as I am pretty sure I used more than 2 sets of mediums.

I was wondering all race last night what my cars paint job reminded me of...

It finally clicked this morning!!!

Not a problem mate its your first time in the series and you had very little time to get it all together for round 1. As you didn't gain anything we wont penalize you. Just remember there is a window of leniency when it comes to getting damage on a fresh set of tyres just be prepared for round 2 and onwards. ;)

Fair call, I think the drivers that have been with the ORS for 4 or 5 seasons just got use to these tyre rules! :D haha

What is the exact amount of laps allowed if you have to pit for damage soon after pitting for tyres without 'using' one of your sets?

Also what happens if you pit many times and have no sets left?

We allow 4 laps of leniency for damage on a new set of tyres. So for example you put on your new shiny set of mediums and you get damage on the 2nd lap out on these mediums then you can pit to fix the damage without using your tyre set. After 4 laps if you pit to fix damage it counts as a used set.

In regards to running out of tyres. I doubt it would happen with a 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minute race but in the event that it does happen you are welcome to switch to racing inters or wets.

ORS GT | ROUND 1 | FASTEST LAPS

ORS_S10_GT_Fastest_laps_R13_zps1b31b653.png

Yes the Official ORS Fastest Laps weekly update returns this season!

Please note we will not be reviewing everyone's fastest laps on a weekly basis given time constraints. However we will be looking very closely at fastest and second fast lap placements to ensure fastest lap points are awarded fairly. We will also be doing spot checks as part of general race reviews in accordance with ORS fair racing policies. :)

Oni's lap of 1.57.879 on Lap 35 was not legal.
Oni's lap of 1.58.113* was legal and stands as the fastest lap of the round.
Rota's lap of 1.58.287 on lap 3 was not legal.
Rota's lap of 1.58.363* on lap 36 was legal as the second fastest lap of the round.

Week by week fastest laps results are available here brought to you by CAC Productions.

Any questions, don't hesitate. :)
Regards,

Jas

Lol.. and you call yourself a steward. But yes it has been an unspoken rule since ORS was formed.

In the event a driver receives damage during set changes i have allowed a buffer to combat this. If you receive damage on lap 1-3 of your new set of tyres then it will not count as a used set if you need to pit to fix damage. You may stay on that same compound. If you receive damage from lap 4 onwards and pit to fix the damage then that tyre will count as a used set.

Thanks Evan for putting the pressure on Ying Yang Racing at Monaco!?

Cactass, that was a really epic battle between Jol and Rota there. Thanks for sharing. I also decided it would be nice to record a few laps of different drivers from Monday nights race. I used your awesome race position graph to see which laps drivers swapped positions to try and make sure a focused on something worth watching. I tried my best to cover everyone's car at least once.

Apologies for the poor quality sound. I really should get myself a HD capture card one day. I normally throw a few choice soundtracks over these videos but lately Youtube has been blocking copyrighted music.

So here it is:

Lol.. and you call yourself a steward. But yes it has been an unspoken rule since ORS was formed.

That's my fault, i've been involved in i'd say close to if not all of your series, besides most of the Citroen series due to family illness.

But i haven't remembered that ruling
