This little challenge is a great idea. Excellent combo. The F40 is still quite a handful even with Sport softs tires which makes it fun. And I can watch replays of the F40 lap Suzuka all day... the corners here really work the car and camera angles really show it off.

Brake balance is definitely not tuning because for ABS-off you absolutely must change it to get realistic braking.

and to not die in a horribly spectacular incident...

Driver: FormulaC/FormulaC
Time: 2:15.681
Transmission: Manual
Controller: DFGT
ABS: 1

I just did 2 laps and know there a lot of times I can improve.

just updated the time sheet :)

Gonna go on in a bit and see if i cant get myself into the 2:12s :)

Great challenge:)
Did som laps tonight and my best time:

Driver: no1pal
Time: 2.14.032
Transmission:Manual
Controller: DFGT
ABS:1

There is more to improve here.

just surprised even myself :sly:

Managed to cut a second off :D

driver: NJ72/doc-shipman
time: 2:12.036
Transmission: Manual
Controller: DS3
ABS: 1

added recent times to the list also :)

Having a tough time trying to improve!

I'll have a try with Manual gears!

Just read this post, the place i made the most time because of manual instead of auto is the final chicane. Use 1st to engine brake on entry, stay in first whilst in the chicane, but just as you clip the apex of the left slap it in 2nd. I pulled away by about 2 tenths from the chicane to the start/finish. Add to that that your next lap should then be quicker as you start at a higher speed and you should be able to shave off a good 3 or 4 tenths 👍

EDIT: sorry for double post... hit 'quote' without thinking... oops :dunce:

Wow nice time! Will definitely have to try manual tomorrow, looks like theres a lot of time to be gained by using it.

Thanks 👍

yeah, im finding that putting up with the uber turbo lag in second is sometimes a greater advantage than using 1st and wasting time wheel-spinning and then shifting to 2nd again...

The gear ratio stock is impossibly long though, dont get out of 3rd all the way round :scared: might have to get the one from my garage on Route X to see how fast she'll go... :P

I failed. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Ferrari's or Suzuka so if I do any more laps I will go crazy. I guess I'll have to live with it and wait for week 3.

2.12.296
DS3
AUTO
ABS ON Balance3/4

Tried with manual and got 2.13.1 improving on my old time, then went back to auto and got this on my 3rd lap, well happy, still I think 2.10 is possible by someone who hooks up a perfect lap!

Wow, nice driving man, congrats.

I agree, there is definately a 2:10 out there. a high one perhaps, but it is out there. If I managed to get the whole lap right I think I could do it, but my consistency just isnt up to it... We're only half way through the week though... maybe... just maybe... ;)

Just updating the time list with your new time

Thanks, I was beginning to think I couldn't improve but just goes to show, 1.1 seconds quicker than before just like that!

Yeah, that happened to me. Was on a 13.092 (i think, something like that) and was aiming for a high 12.8xx/9xx and out of nowhere managed a 12.0! great feeling when that happens. absolutely sucks trying to keep up with your ghost after though...

or maybe that was just me3

Yes same!

Just noticed your PSN ID LMAO!

Haha, it's because my initials are DR and my surname is shipman. Geddit? DR Shipman?

I was in secondary school when it all happened so it just turned in to a nickname (a rather dark one admittedly, but a nickname none the less lol)

Hi, great challenge. I like the concept where everyone drives the same car, with the same setup and aids.

Hope to improve my time before end of the week. I thing I can shave off a sec or two with some practice and patience.

This was what I got from 15min of driving:

Tintorera/Tintorera
2:14.982
Manual, No clutch
Wheel
ABS 1

Nice driving man, have added your time to the list :)

Did a handful of laps, took a little getting used to, but managed a 2:14.519

Driver: klsharp2000
Time: 2:14.519
Transmission: automatic
Controller: DFGT
ABS: 1

After trying manual (and failing :P) went back to auto and improved my time by 0.8, new time is as follows:

Driver: lmp787b/Ld_headshot
Time: 2:14.016 (so close to under 2:14!)
Transmission: Auto
Controller: DS3
ABS: 1

Even though I prefer automatic for GT5 (with my DS3) I often find time on tracks if I try manual then switch back. It gives me better awareness of which gear I'm in even if I don't have as fine control over the shifts.

I'll try this again when I get home. I'll try manual then auto. I know I have at least 3 seconds in me.

Man I need a wheel!

Same hopefully gonna buy one this week. Manual I can control my acceleration, deceleration and cornering better but I have to spend time thinking about shifting and not the line I'm driving, I find I can concentrate more on the line with auto then go to manual after to improve my technique and time. Still haven't added you on psn yet!

The sheet has been updated with people's updated times :)

If this starts to grow we could maybe ask for a front page mention lol
