The main goaJ in time trials is to set your best possible time, if the best drivers hada choice to set the best time with aids they would do it because what matters most is coming first at all cost. if you want to be a pureist enter some iRacing Leagues.. Long story short everyone has e same feeling of winning.

Ok. Not really sure what your point is or why you are quoting me. You're coming off like I am the one who has the problem with aids, which is not the case. The problem I have is, is people calling aids a "cheat" or referring to people who use them as "cheaters." Using aids is not cheating and should not be referred to as such. Again, I'm not trying to be a purist, as you say. I use aids myself in the TT's, for the very reason you have stated, to set my best possible time.

Hey guys, just a thought about this aids/no aids banter I see all the time.
As for the Seasonal TTs, its PD that sets the rules because they allow them.

So if your ambition is a hi-visibility slot on the global leader boards....
...not using them could be like taking edged blade to a fire arms fight.

This subject would be a non-starter, if there were in-game filterable leader boards.
Hell, we don't even have an official online leader board now like GT5 had.
If we did, there still might be an alternative like mygranturismo.net's filterable GT5 LB.

And for the record, I am a no driving aids, no SRF, 0 ABS driver.
So my efforts are usually limited to my No SRF FR LB standings.
But, if I were to aim global, I would use every damn thing made available by PD.

The root cause of this isn't the community members, its the developer/publisher.
Take your grief to PD and Sony, don't take out on each other...
...you've already paid them your $40 to $60 for this situation.

Well this has me well and truly beaten, I've had to resort to cheating and I'm still a second off gold!

:hides: :D ;)

I'm going to keep at it even though I'm not a huge fan of Monza, nor cars that want to kill me. The best advice I've seen was to avoid down shifting too soon and that does help. It's just such an all or nothing car this, lovely when you get a line right and nail it but the other 99% of the time, ouch :ouch:

+1 @JogoAsobi

my 10 cent, I hope PD will finally do something about this mess.

Aids should be a means for users not being able to achieve gold times, to be able to do so, and keep the game running (earning money and spending it and so forth)
.
Aids should result in a more controllable car fast enough to get an easy gold.

Aids should result in a slower car compared to a non aids car.

This way everybody would be happy, and people would be motivated to enjoy the physics of GT6.

Havent played GT6 for couple weeks. Gave it a try today, first lap was 4!!!! seconds off. Few laps later, easy throttle applications, easy on brakes and im .5 off gold, will there. But first got roast to cook then watch F1. Try after that.

:gtpflag:

In my opinion it would be easier to divide aids on and aids off ranks and then have a scratch table, because if a car with aids achieves gold easily it implies that it's faster than one without aids... You can't change that unless you limit the top speed or something...

By the way don't you guys feel that everybody in the first second places are fighting not against time but against red flags? That's why I've never liked monza, the fastest lapis the one who cuts borders off the better...

Just some thoughts

It's clear that gt6 as a game is geared towards new players. The only real challenges at this stage for more advanced players are the TT's.

PD is not going to lock aids off in the TT's as it would not give the new players a shot to gold these events.
Maybe when the gt5 severs are shut down will will see multiple or filterable leader boards.

In the meen time we have a mess sorting and compairing times.

Maybe PD could set it up this way in a patch.

Useing aids will only allow a registered time equal to the gold time in the TT.
To register a faster time on the leader board, one would simply turn off any aids. (The same as it works now for PP, Tires, and cars)
As such it it would still be possible for new players to enjoy the TT's aid enabled as they hone their driving skills, and create/retain a level playing field for compitition above the gold mark for the more advanced players.

Lol i am in favour of what you are saying :) you just took me up wrong that is all. Time Trials is all about setting the best possible time no matter how you do it, everyone has the same option's to use.

I can drive no abs no aids its all i ever did, but in my case in Time Trials i wanted push myself against the rest so you have to use aids, i love Time Trials an trying to be the best that i can, its like people are nearly being discriminating the use of aids,

Without the use of aids, the gap in ability would be alot more not at the top but further down, all the usual top guys am sure can drive no abs no aids.

What you have said Sir should be go down in history :)
I am a no abs no aids driver but my aim is Global an for this i use everything allowed.

Active steering, and any other aid for that fact, is not cheating. Really wish you guys would let that go, its a weak argument and one that has no basis what so ever.
Yes of course it isn't really "cheating" because its an optional, But what i meant to say is that active steering making it much easier with less effort :D And in my opinion i believe is that most talented drivers are who doing it with less aids possible.

I'm not sure if AS makes much of a difference but it maybe because i have it on mild. I had another go at it before with it off and i was still getting close to my PB but i know it helps a little with the last corner because my ghost keeps getting away from me a bit there.
it's make a difference mate, And i know you can do it without using it.

Yes, it (AS) does make it easier. I have to disagree with your statement that I have bolded. While it does take a bit more skill to use no aids, that doesn't mean that the ones using aids are less talented. For instance, If this TT had SRF and Active Steering locked to off, you would still have the same people at the top of the leaderboards. In a sense, using myself as an example, you are saying that I am less talented just because I choose to use aids. To that I would say, look at my WRS ranking (D2 Silver) where we use no aids (apart from ABS 1) and grip reduction set to real, and tell me I am less talented. You can't, my skill level is the same with or without aids. I am still a top 50-100 driver either way. I would be around the same spot on the leaderboards if this was a SRF and AS forced off event. Another example would be the top guy on the leaderboards, (don't know who it is atm) he would be there, or very close, regardless if aids were forced off or not. He is not any less talented just because he is using aids or not. The use of aids does not make you any less talented on a whole.

just improved my time to 1:32,7 but i had an amazing lap after that one only 0,01 up on immortal after the second split but went off at ascari chicane i think p2 was possible. Did some more laps after that one but wasnt able to get close anymore, will have another try tomorrow

I completely agree with this :) an you couldn't have said it any better, the use of aids is only to compete an as a wheel player i dont like AS it feels odd for me, with the equipment that i have DFGT its harder to compete with no aids no abs, purely because of pedals, on the first 2 Time Trials i finished in Top 10, i know that if aids wasnt allowed i wouldnt maybe finish Top 10 because of my pedals, i have stopped playing GT will be back when i have the faith in my equipment.

Well, It's my "opinion" mate, And yes, I agree with you there 're some people its not gonna be an issue for them if it on or off because they 're talented, But others 'll not be at the same spot as they are now or at least and as you know we 're fighting against thousandths of a second do you think that who uses (AS) is gonna be able to do better of their PB with (AS) off ? Yes some of us can do it but most of the drivers i doubt they can.

Well, having said what I did before, I still have to disagree with you. Aids do not make the driver, the driver makes the driver. ;)

Just to make things clear, I'm not talking about mixing the two in one event. For instance, in the Matterhorn event. If I were to turn all aids off, of course I could not run as fast and I would be nowhere near where I'm at now on the leaderboards. What I am saying is this: If the event was a non aid event, I would still be able to place in relitivily the same spot as I would if it was an event where aids were allowed. Follow me? You seem to be wanting to take talent away from already talented people just because they use aids which is dead wrong. Is like you're saying that Amo, doodle, or anyone on the leaderboard for that fact, are only there because of their use of aids. That is completely wrong. Again, aids or no aids event, they would still be there. Your logic really makes no sense and you are really slapping a lot of talented drivers in the face with your comments.

Don't get me wrong mitch, i did not say they are not talented, i'm saying they won't be able to set a better time with ( AS) off. i'm just trying to make a point.

Well of course not, that's pretty much a give in. If that was your initial point, you should have stated it that way before instead of sounding like you're trying to take talent away from talented drivers.

First you insinuate that its cheating: And i'm doing it without cheating by using active steering

Then you say this: And in my opinion i believe is that most talented drivers is who doing it with less aids possible.

Before finally ending with this: i'm saying they won't be able to set a better time with ( AS) off.

Sounds like a lot of back peddling to me. Anyhow, I get your point now so we're all good. 👍

EDIT: After further thinking, it might be possible to set a better time with AS off for an individual (I've personally done it before), but definitely not the case with SRF. Just wanted to clear that up. AS is really one of those "personal" taste type aids where it may or may not help you go faster, just depends on the person.

I know alot is made of final leaderboard positions, but who has the most skill, the person who has spent an hour to get a top 50 time or the guy who has spent 50 hrs getting one step further up?

I'm going to try this 'active steering' assist tonight, if that doesn't work I'm turning on SRF 👍

The person who gets top 50 after one hour (assuming the one spot up isn't much higher than 50th)? I don't get your point?

Sorry, gets inside the top 50 time with just an hrs lapping.

I get that, I just don't understand why you asked the question of who has more skill, the guy who spends an hour getting into the top 50, or the guy who spends 50 hours, that was all. :)

Not sure you'd know who has more skill from that comparison but I know who I'd rather have on my team.

I don't get his point either but I think I may know where he is going to try to go with it. Fire away Dusty, I'm ready for you. ;)

And just to answer you question, the guy who spent the hour is probably going to be the more skilled although the guy that has spent the more amount of time would be the one I would want on my team. There is a lot to be said about commitment and determination. ;)

Great answer, wink wink, nudge, nudge.

I did two fairly casual laps around Monza. I was really feeling it when I did my second lap. Only problem was that my FXX got a bit unstable out of the final section. I still managed to pull a 1:40.489. One of my PSN friends pulled a 1:40.485, so I was a bit miffed I was bested by 5 thousandths. The PSN friend who was ahead of all of my PSN friends pulled a lap time of 1:37.516, and [this person] was the ONLY one of my PSN friends who pulled a time below the 1:40.000 mark. Gold time is 1:37.000 for this Seasonal.

I can't say enough just how awesome the FXX is. I first appreciated it when I played the PS2 version of "Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli." The FXX lives to be driven fast and hard. It is a demonic machine. I love racing Monza, so this challenge is a very nice one. What I found to be a helpful tactic is to try some late braking. Late, but hard braking. It also helps to go as far inside through the chicanes without being TOO deep to where your lap goes foul (invalidated). This is a very cool Seasonal with a beast of a car. Try it out!

Definitely my toughest yet for a seasonal. Had all kinds of issues. I was really upset about not being able to do the seasonal and couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time. Self doubt set in and I was really down. Then I looked at my 360 controller to PS3 USB adapter and found that at least one of the "Turbo" switches (a feature of the adapter that I couldn't care less about) had accidentally gotten flipped to the ON position. Once that was righted I suddenly had a lot more control over throttle and brake inputs on the triggers. Got Gold, did a couple more laps and improved my time a bit and then I was done. My mood and taste for the event was soured with more than three days of attempts and failures due to those stupid effing "Turbo" switches on the adapter so I just quit with my barely better than gold time, thankful that I'd gotten it done.

Ha, been there, having a 2.5 yrd old and an 8mnth old means mine are now glued in place 👍

well done on getting there in the end, tough TT this one.

Been hit hard with the flu recently so i'm gonna give this tt a good dosage tomorrow before it ends. Going to be extremely difficult to snatch a podium so best i'm hoping for is 4th place.

Edit: Well i am now up to 4th place :D Had a great run through ascari for once but i think i lost a tiny bit on that last corner. It's hard trail braking that bend and keeping the car pointing where it should be.
I'll give it one last go tonight and maybe i'll grab 2nd place if i'm lucky.
