Yes, Newark on Trent. Not Newark, New Jersey!

It seems that way. Maybe you can share with someone. There is a travelodge or Travel Inn (can't remember) just outside Newark. There are also a couple of B&Bs in Newark.

Hmm. Thanks daan, i'll mull it over, but for now i guess i'm part of the "unlikely" group.

You can put me down as a likely - If I can come this time, I can bring one PS2 with memory card, two DS2's, 1 DFP, network cables and a 4 bar plug and/or extension cables, 2 copies of GT4 and a Richard Whiteley PunMaster2000™

Just a quick question. For now, I'm a no, but how important is not sucking at GT4 in this meeting?

It doesnt really matter that much. The way famine handicaps the tournaments evens everything out. At the last lan there was a range of ability from the "your not allowed to play GT4 anymore because your too fast" group down to the "i cant be bothered to race anymore so im going to turn around and crash into people" group.

As i found out last time its more consistancy thats the key rather than outright speed, although consistantly coming in 5th isnt really going to do you any good.

It is a good amount of fun however and everybody was laughing and joking around 99% of the time. The 1% was when Famine turned his stupidly loud speakers up while racing and nobody could hear themselves think (not an exageration!)

If you can get yourself along, im pretty sure you wont regret it.

@ Donbenni i dont think the rooms will be a problem, last time i paid for a single room and ended up with a room with 4 beds in it! If your really that broke then i dont mind sharing a room and subject to prices being the same, it works out at £20 a night between us. Touring Mars will be staying in the same hotel too, i am assuming Roo and the other travelling up with him would be staying in the same hotel too so there would be a large group. Also its literally a 2/3 min walk from the venue.

Im also assuming this will be at Newark again
Spec....

Spec has kindly offered to share a room, so if the weekend is fixed on the 28th - 29th i'll be there.

Is there any stuff i'll need to bring? I've got a PS2, GT4, Memory Card (not blank), couple of DS2s and 4 point power thingy. I'll be training into Newark so i'd prefer not to bring the PS2, but can do if needed.

I need to speak to the hosts first.

At the moment - vexd & EXelero pending - we still need PS2s, but more GT4s, MCs and power cables are always good, if not totally necessary.

I'm hoping I can get the Brother to come in his Atom, and get a TV & DFP stapled onto it for a real racing seat. It'll fit through the doors... :D

Spec - the original handicap idea belongs to WasteGate, and the car-testing for it for GT4 is all down to Pestilence, my B-Spec Bob.

Actually, I guess I'd better paste together an events list.

Any requests for specific types of car - or specific cars - anyone would like to drive? We tend to avoid the very, very top-end cars but that doesn't mean we absolutely won't drive them.

Ahh, i didnt realise this, Well either way its a great idea and makes up for close racing! 👍

The Renault Clio Endurance was alot of fun, Id most certainly like to see this included.

The Carlton Lotus was a car we all hated too but seemed to be the center of alot of laughs.

To be honest pretty much what we did last time was good fun, although something tells me you will be making some combinations of track and car to make us all swear again.

Spec....

Totally. :D

The Clio Endurance is, without a doubt, one of the most fun races I've ever had the pleasure of participating in. Ever. If GTHD can churn out even a single race like that, it'd be worth the cash.

I'd love to drive something like the Ginetta G4s, or E-type Jags - some classic car racing.

I'll plan to bring everything GT related with me and if a console is still needed i'll bring that too.

You've got to get your brother down :D

Even if your 'partner' dragged the side down :dunce:

That was sort of my fault though - I should have selected Automatic, as I can drive meh with it, rather than shoving you into a Manual car for the first time - baptism of of fire.

I thought you'd answered it yourself... But, since you didn't, no, not much. It's geared round school hollibobs which are, I believe, the last week in October. This gives people the time to migrate from around the country beforehand.

RI - if you think you'd enjoy it and we won't have to beat you to a pulp for overenthusiastic BTCC-style driving, by all means.

Wait who told you about my driving style?

Anyway yeah put me down as a maybe, depending on what the date is going to be. Also do I need to bring anything because the only moveable tv I have is a poxy 14 incher.

Stop spending it on your woman then. Besides:

You don't have £20?

I dont have anything to spend on my woman:lol: And we do have £40, but thats for emergenecies, cant spend it, would be a bummer if i spent it then got an interview in Reading:dunce:

But its still a few weeks away so we ust gotta sit tight, hopefully something more promising will surface soon.

why cant i get a dam job! every week i say something will come up soon and it never does:(

A miracle has happened! :D
It looks like I have to make another business trip to UK sometime around end of October / beginning of November. Has there been a date fixed for the meeting yet. I'm going to try and get 3 full un-jetlagged weekends in Blighty, so please let me know when it'll be. Most likely I'll be back (Schwarzenegger on standby for EXelero!) for the weekends of Nov 4th & 5th, 11th & 12th and 18th & 19th, but if the meeting is happening 28th & 29th October I can do some serious weasling and try to get over for it! I'd love to catch up with everyone again! 👍

I'd love to run the Clio endurance again, especially with "Dainty on the tyres" daan as a co-driver, and Carys as our team manager / cheerleader! Only vexd's uncanny ability to drive the Clio and stay on track with glowing red tyres stopped us from grabbing a win in that race!

This gives people the time to migrate from around the country beforehand.
Or, indeed, into the country from other countries! :P

Terrific :D:tup: Don't forget the whisky

Sadly that's no longer possible! After the foiled bomb-plot, Duty-free sales on flights to England aren't what they used to be! Shock, horror! Alcoholic beverages are potentially flammable liquids!!!! Like we didn't know that before?
I'll see what they're selling on the plane, but it's usually not a great selection, the Americans seem to favour blended crap like Johnny Walker or Chivas Regal instead of a fine Single Malt. :grumpy:

Damnit. Got stoatally :ill: out-weaseled trying to push for a return in time for the end of October! :grumpy: Now coming back end of November, beginning of December. Anyone fancy a race then instead? 💡

Bummer. If you're over my way I might be partial to a head-to-head... :D

A shame I'm not in Britain. GTP V looked bags of fun. :(

Make sure you make dial-up friendly videos for us lesser mortals :)

So, with it getting close to the suggested date for the next party - are we any closer to getting the thumbs up?

I called EXelero yesterday - hopefully we'll know this evening.

to bad i live in america:this looks awesome and i would love to come but, im just shy of 16 and my parents wont be thrilled of me crossing an ocean to play video games with a bunch of "strangers":guilty:
